Pours cloudy tan with a fluffy white head. Aroma is very nice and balanced with sweet malt, cinnamon, gingerbread, cloves, grass, hay, wheat, caramel, and banana is nicely in the background. Tastes follows suit with Sweet bread dough malt, sweet potato, caramel, cloves, grass, ginger, and plenty of pungent (rather than fruity) yeast qualities. Finishes earthy and gentle, like a sweet sourdough bread. Not heavy, but not light, high carbonation without being irritating, and effortless to drink. As big and well-made as Aventinus, but with a lighter colored beer. Hell yes!!

Rastacouere (6162) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 9, 2010
A large ivory head settles over the opaque, dulled down golden hue. I somehow had not expected a pale weizenbock. Profoundly yeasty nose has plenty to offer. Over a bready/toasty bed, phenolic linens procure spicy, clovey, borderline medicinal aromatics while banana bread, apple flesh&rhubarb (without the tartness) and litchi fruitiness provide ample complexity. Highly carbonated on the tongue, its initially explosive bubbles settle to an intense, albeit lightening motion for its considerable malt base. Full toasty breadiness develops an obvious biscuit character as honeyed wheat evocates candied breakfast cereals. Despite its strong maltiness, the yeasty nature and refreshing wheat bill remove any suggestion that this is too sweet. It remains very drinkable from the first to last sip. Competent stuff from these malt extraction experts.

Bottle. Pours a massive, frothy white head. Lasting. Unexpectedly light colored body - rich golden with abundant, pearly carbonation. Clear body becomes hazy with yeast. Aroma is big-time yeast, even from across the table. Vanilla and fruit (tropical) at first. Closer sniffs reveal big, bready wheat malt and tangy citrus zest from the yeast. Some requisite clove and a touch of bubble gum. Flavor has more of the big, rich wheat malt and some banana and spice. Light, warming alcohol. Less of the bubble gum, but bigger clove and hints of vanilla and cream. Medium body is smooth and creamy with lively carbonation. Big malt presence with just enough bitterness to balance and keep it from being overbearing. Alcohol comes through in the finish, but isn’t distracting. Lingering spice. Overall a super beer. The Ayinger doesn’t dethrone Aventinus for me, but it’s right up there.

50cl bottle. Well, Ayinger certainly knows how to do bock and weizen, so put the two together and you have a pretty solid beer. A relatively pale take on the style, though I suspect some munich malt got thrown in there, lending a deep bready and bready-crust maltiness that stands up to the alcohol and spicy banana. Typical baked banana bread aroma with a dusting of clove. They got a good attenuation in this though, which makes it quite drinkable, while still packing a lot of malt flavor in. Yeasty and not really bitter at all, with ripe banana giving way to a generally clean finish. Medium bodied with ample carbonation. Very nice for a paler weizen bock, but I still miss the chocolate notes that you get in something like Aventinus.

Great aroma of wheat, coriander, and a little citrus. Flavor has a little hay, with lots of sugar, orange, coriander again, and a very sweet finish. A great looking beer, hazy, with a huge head that took some time to drop before I could drink it.

Pleasant aroma of fresh wheat, yeast, and citrus fruits. Tastes of banana, wheat, yeast, and tangy citrus. Finishes slightly tart and acidic. Very easy to drink and refreshing. Alcohol is deceptive and hits like a brick. Good stuff.

pours a cloudy orange-yellow with a large white foamy head, and great lacing. smell is of ripe banana, wheat, a touch of citrus, and some spice. taste is smooth, wheat, and banana, ends creamy.

500ml bottle. Slightly hazy golden beer body with a large tightly bubbled white head. Lovelly,honeyish,spicy, banana-bready aromas..very delicious..my mouth is watering. taste is very similar to the aroma but with a more phenolic quality, and for me hints of marischino cherries. peppery finish. Nice intresting mouthfeel to this its carbonated but just anough to let this roll over the tongue easily. very nice beer. i am really enjoying this.

Murky golden color with a lasting, viscous off white head, nice pour. Tart pale wheat, clove banana estery aromas. Rich smooth mouthfeel. Hearty banana bread, clove, pale wheat flavor is lightly sweet. great wheat brew.
