500 ml bottle. Pours a nice unclear gold color with a nice, foamy white three inch head that lasts. Taste is of malt, honey, wheat, yeast, caramel, spice and a touch of warming alcohol. Similar aroma. Has a great chewy body that coats the mouth. Very drinkable considering the alcohol and very satisfying. A great beer to kick off the fall and winter months.

500mL bottle. Honey-gold color, hazy, moderate head, fades down to a persistent head. Banana-pineapple citrus aroma - good & appetizing. I guess it’s just a little different than a hefeweizen in that it’s a bit stronger, but the body is about the same. It has some lemon and herbal notes.

Full-bodied wheat bear. Heavy banana aroma. Flavor of banana, bread, cleves, and acidic straw.

Bottle. Pours a very very murky yellowish orange--probably the Whole Foods bagger’s fault for tossing the bottle in my bag horizontally. Big bubbly white head, not much lace. The aroma is very spicy with hints of clove and bananas and even some vanilla--like a traditional hefe. The flavor is pretty much the same. I don;t normally like hefe’s or wheats, but this beer is damn tasty and refreshing. Not overly spicy and astringent like many. Smooth and easy going. Medium to light body with medium carbonation. Overall: a standout beer in its category.

500ml bottle into a weizen glass. Pours a couldy brownish-orange with a one finger fluffy white head. Great head retention but really no lacing at all. Aroma is the usual banana and spice notes but there is an extra touch of citrus in there that I was not expecting. A touch of caramel in the nose helps mix things up a bit. The flavor has strong bubblegum and banana notes with some caramel lingering underneath. There are more subtle hints of spices in the way of coriander and some orange peel but i believe it is from the yeast. Alcohol is completely hidden and other than a fuller mouthfeel, there is no way to tell that this is stronger than a typical hefe. Overall, I really love this beer! There is a real richness from the aroma and flavor along with very well-hidden alcohol. One to work into the regular rotation.

Bottle. Yellow pour with a massive frothy white head. Aroma of wheat and lemons. Great medium bodied taste of wheat, cloves, citrus and bread with a lasting slightly sweet finish.

Bottle. Poured a lightly hazy golden-yellow color with an 1 and 1/2 inch, dense white head that receded to a 1/4 inch layer and left some spotty lacing. Sweet, doughy yeast aroma with hints of wheat, crisp fruit (tangerine, lemon peel, banana), a moderate spiciness (clove), and a light grassy hoppiness. Crisp, lightly sweet entry with hints of sweet dough, wheat, and clove transitions into a moderate fruitiness with hints of crisp citrus paired with sweeter banana that finishes with a lightly dry grassiness and light undertones of doughy yeast. Light, yet lively, carbonation rounds out a crisp, easy drinking mouth feel. Overall, a tasty, enjoyable beer that does seem to share a lot of common traits with it’s hefe brethren, but that certainly doesn’t make it any less enjoyable.

Nena (963) - Seattle, Washington, USA - DEC 20, 2009
Bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a big, fluffy, lasting white head. Has a very nice aroma with lost of spicy yeast and fruitiness, with banana and a touch of citrus noticeable. Has a bready wheat malt flavor, with the clove-like spiciness also coming through a lot. The banana is more pronounced on the flavor to me than in the aroma, as well as bubblegum. Hides the alcohol extremely well, I felt almost no alcohol presence despite the higher percentage.

Bottle Pours a cloudy light gold with a good white head. The head is frothy and lasts well. Lacing is good. Has a sweet aroma of bubble gum, banana, cloves, and some bread. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is good, crisp and sweet, very refreshing. Has a medium body. The texture is thin. Has a good finish with a nice aftertaste. This is a tasty refreshing beer a good thirst quencher.
