33cl bottle straight from Munich courtesy of my mother-in-law in the funky new Sam Adams glass which is almost weizen shaped. Cloudy orange with big fluffy white head and lotsa lace. Lots of banana clove bubble gum bread and citrus in the aroma. Sweet peach apricot vanilla with medium wheat tang and sweet vanilla finish. No alcohol burn and no residual bitterness. Just delicious and complex for the style. Awesome.

Bottle. Clear-to-opaque apricot trumpet fizzing madly beneath a high silky white head. Aroma is wow; toffee apple rolled in clove, orange rind, lemon meringue pie, dribble making Bazooka chew, lemon sherbet, bananas on toast sprinkled with cinnamon, Hoegaarden and all manner of sexual confectionary. Fat and lovely with honeyed banana, clove; candy cigarettes and gentle warming alcohol. Bulbous exotic spice without spice. How do they do it?? A beer to simply marvel at, whilst chucking a few pints down your neck. Itís wintery, itís summery, itís perfect fireside refreshment for an English May evening with a gale howling down the chimney and the rain lashing against the windowpane. Top 10 material, no questions.

Cloudy straw (I was expecting it slightly darker) with a thick white creamy cap that hangs around for a while. Banana and bubble gum with a mild spice aroma. Nice carbonation level that fits the style. 7.1 ABV is hardly noticeable. Nice clean somewhat filling finish. An excellent Fall/Spring brew.

Bottle. Hard to imagine a weizen bock with a better aroma. Sweet, with banana, alcohol, creaminess. Very inviting. A little thinner bodies than the aroma would suggest, at first impression. But as the palate adjusts, thereís clearly plenty of flavor here. Alcohol doesnít really avail itself. A really nice beer. Surprised I havenít had it before.

What a beer. Massive banana cream pie nose. Overripe bananas, and a hint of tartness. A bit of warm spice on the palate that lingers. More bananas, sweet dough and a touch of citrus. Absolutely smooth as silk going down. This is great stuff.

500 ml bottle. Pours a murky straw color with a frothy white head. Aroma of bananas, clove, wheat, and bubblegum. Taste is much like the nose. Distinct taste of banana, wheat, clove, and hints of vanilla. Medium bodied with a nice creamy mouth-feel. Slight bittersweet finish. Really enjoyable.

From the pour I got a tall three to four finger head of slow fading stiff foam over a cloudy flat tan/orange colored liquid. Lots of visible carbonation flows up to the head which also makes lots of slick lace patterns on the glass. The nose is full of estery, fruity and bready yeast notes. The flavor has loads of tasty wheat character. There is a semi-sweet mix of bread malt, tart wheat and hops with a twist of lemon and green banana peel. The finish leans more to the dry side with a very mild hop presence. Its palate feels lively and well carbonated with a firm medium body.

Bottle at Microbar, Clapham, "Just a quick one" session, 18th Dec 08 (well, by this point, in the early hours of the 19th!) Classic weiss taste but not too citrus, with lots of bock malt there. This is a man’s weiss beer! Heavenly aroma - orange peel, wheat, fresh dough. Clear yellowy amber colour with a persistent white head. Smooth, full bodied. Soft, foamy, clean finish. Just perfect for this style. Tastes like 5% not 7.1%. This redefines weiss beer for me. One of the most enjoyable beers I drank in 2008.

500mL bottle. Pours a very cloudy orange, highy carbonated, white foamy head. Huge aroma of clove and banana, lots of wheat malt. Very sweet flavor, rich wheat, clove, and a bit of banana puree. Heavy bodied, rich and flavorful. Overall, it finishes with a forward charge of bold hefeweizen character. Lots of hefe... its and Imperial German Hefe. Awesome and rich.
