4.4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Hard to imagine a weizen bock with a better aroma. Sweet, with banana, alcohol, creaminess. Very inviting. A little thinner bodies than the aroma would suggest, at first impression. But as the palate adjusts, there’s clearly plenty of flavor here. Alcohol doesn’t really avail itself. A really nice beer. Surprised I haven’t had it before.

What a beer. Massive banana cream pie nose. Overripe bananas, and a hint of tartness. A bit of warm spice on the palate that lingers. More bananas, sweet dough and a touch of citrus. Absolutely smooth as silk going down. This is great stuff.

500 ml bottle. Pours a murky straw color with a frothy white head. Aroma of bananas, clove, wheat, and bubblegum. Taste is much like the nose. Distinct taste of banana, wheat, clove, and hints of vanilla. Medium bodied with a nice creamy mouth-feel. Slight bittersweet finish. Really enjoyable.

Wow is this good. Nice wheat/bock base. But I’m getting Banana in spades -- and it works, and it’s wonderful. Slightly sweet. Incredibly good.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From the pour I got a tall three to four finger head of slow fading stiff foam over a cloudy flat tan/orange colored liquid. Lots of visible carbonation flows up to the head which also makes lots of slick lace patterns on the glass. The nose is full of estery, fruity and bready yeast notes. The flavor has loads of tasty wheat character. There is a semi-sweet mix of bread malt, tart wheat and hops with a twist of lemon and green banana peel. The finish leans more to the dry side with a very mild hop presence. Its palate feels lively and well carbonated with a firm medium body.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at Microbar, Clapham, "Just a quick one" session, 18th Dec 08 (well, by this point, in the early hours of the 19th!) Classic weiss taste but not too citrus, with lots of bock malt there. This is a man’s weiss beer! Heavenly aroma - orange peel, wheat, fresh dough. Clear yellowy amber colour with a persistent white head. Smooth, full bodied. Soft, foamy, clean finish. Just perfect for this style. Tastes like 5% not 7.1%. This redefines weiss beer for me. One of the most enjoyable beers I drank in 2008.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
500mL bottle. Pours a very cloudy orange, highy carbonated, white foamy head. Huge aroma of clove and banana, lots of wheat malt. Very sweet flavor, rich wheat, clove, and a bit of banana puree. Heavy bodied, rich and flavorful. Overall, it finishes with a forward charge of bold hefeweizen character. Lots of hefe... its and Imperial German Hefe. Awesome and rich.

4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a hazy golden yellowish orange color with golden ripe banana yellow hues when held to a light source and a lot of visible carbonation bubbling up. Two finger frothy white head that quickly fizzles into a lasting cap. A lot lighter colored than I expected.
Yeasty aroma with hints of fresh bread, crisp light fruit, citrus peel and subtle zesty spice. Hints of ripe banana, apple, lemon peel, zest peppery spice and subtle clove. Slightly earth and funky.
Fuller end of medium bod with a lot of smooth bread yeast. This gives the beer a lot of it’s full body and contributes wonderfully to the flavor. Lots of zesty, peppery spice and crisp citrus fruit are very well integrated making this beer extremely flavorful and quite complex. Plenty of ripe banana along with hints of apple, lemon zest, pepper, clove and citrus lemon peel. All of these flavors are extremely well balanced with no one flavor overpowering the other and the ABV is excellently masked making this beer extremely quaffable. Highly recommended for German wheat beer fans or anyone really. Excellent!

Bottle courtesy of Chris & Dennis, thank you gentlemen.
Hazy orange color with a fluffy white head that settles quickly to leave good lacing. Aroma of licorice, bubblegum and grapefruit. Flavor also has banana and decent malts. Great example of the style.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours cloudy tan with a fluffy white head. Aroma is very nice and balanced with sweet malt, cinnamon, gingerbread, cloves, grass, hay, wheat, caramel, and banana is nicely in the background. Tastes follows suit with Sweet bread dough malt, sweet potato, caramel, cloves, grass, ginger, and plenty of pungent (rather than fruity) yeast qualities. Finishes earthy and gentle, like a sweet sourdough bread. Not heavy, but not light, high carbonation without being irritating, and effortless to drink. As big and well-made as Aventinus, but with a lighter colored beer. Hell yes!!
