A banana explosion! prolly the best hefe yet (man, my notes say that about a lot of beers when I am on holiday). The creamy wheat tastes like an ice cream covered banana. yonanan in a glass. Did I mention best hefe yet?

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2008 Several pubs around london. Beautiful cloudy golden apparance - mild aroma, slightly lemony. Impressive sharpness to the taste. A tiny bit too sweet, but nevertheless very impressive for a British attempt at the style. Quality is very dependent on the pub, it seems, as this seems to be far better in some of the london Sam Smiths pubs than others.

As Samuel Smith Wheat beer. Hazy yellow with thick white head. Much banana and coriander in the aroma. The taste is sweet but spiced up by coriander and ginger.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2007 Pint in the Waterguard, Cardiff. Aroma spices, lemon and coriander. Cloudy yellow in appearance. Rich smooth texture with spice and citrus in the flavour. Not a fan on this type of beer but enjoyed this one a lot.

Draft @ Angel & White Horse, Tadcaster, Very good hefe. Really suprised by the low ratings. Slightly hazed yellow pour, Notes of cloves, wheat & slight banana in thearoma & flavor. Smooth, nice mouthfeel. Nice beer

Tasty, slightly peace and lemon flavored. Remember this one better in retrospect, from my pre-RateBeer days. Still pretty wonderful. Had this at Lyceum Tavern, London.

Draught (Cittie of Yorke, London) Cloudy yellow - thin light head. Good german style wheat beer. Light wheat and corriander aroma. Fizzy and sharp in the mouth. Slightly corny - caramel and candyfloss - sweetness, some light banana. Very authentic. Sessionable at 5% no doubt.

This is a real eye opener - a UK brewed Hefe that gets it right. I’ve had several pints in differnet pubs around London and my opinion is set: Good work Sam Smiths. First off it comes in a squat, but attractive Hefe glass, with a decent head. Nice orange, cloves and corriander aroma and flavours. Slightly watery, but not unpleasently so. Easy to drink, inexpensive compared to other draft Hefe’s and a lovely warm orange colour to boot. Give it a go.

Cloudy lemon with white lasting head. Clove, light vanilla in aroma. Sweet vanilla, butterscotch and banana. Thin bodied, but ok to style. Alright weisse.
