3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in September 2013. Cask, Gravity dispense. Clear gold in colour with a thin white head. Malt notes in the short aroma with hints of sweet golden syrup. Thin almost resiny mouthfeel. Poor dispersed lacing. Pale malt base gives a juicy wine gum fruit flavour, full in the cheeks with notes of pineapple, satsuma and barley sugar. Dusty and floral taste to the hop resins give a spicy herbal note in the short aftertaste. Sweet malt comes back with warming golden syrup notes to the malty finish. A Strong Pale Ale in true Scottish tradition with sweet pale malt to the fore, reminded me slightly of the old Lorimar & Clark Strong Ale for those who can remember blasts from the past!

’Paul takes a brown shower’ tasting at Bruce’s pad. And thanks to Paul for this one. Light haze on this gold beer, tiny white head. Has the nose of a Belgian golden. Smooth palate, dry with fine carbonation. The Belgian Gold feel carries on with some spice in the strong pale malt. Trace of citrus. Semi dry finish with a trace of citrus.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Bruce’s, London - big thanks to Paul for this exceptional beer. Pours clear, bright gold with a fine, creamy head. Nose has some bread, dough, hints of wheat, coriander. Medium sweet flavor, lots of white bread, some citrus rind, hay. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish, mild dry white bread, hay, some orange and lemon. Very tasty. Drinks well for the ABV. I like it.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Golden yellow colour, big foamy head. Cereal biscuit & tropical fruit aroma. flowery biscuit citrus flavour. Bitter aftertaste. Not sure about the "blonde stout" or English Strong Ale classification. It is more like a Belgian Blonde. Nonetheless it is still a good beer.
