Sitting outside the Glen Park Hotel on a hot Saturday in August. Day off work, sun shining, just watching the world go by .... and drinking a lovely, crisp and citrus ale which is brewed in part of this self same hotel. Life doesn’t get much better and beer doesn’t get much fresher than this. Nice yellow, marmalade colour with white head. Tastes of summer, nice citrus tones but not too bitter. Perfect for this weather. Just wish I had time for another. Sometime soon though!

Cask @ Cloisters, Edinburgh 230812
Golden, clear, dense rich white head, good lacing
Aroma - light citrus zest, soft fruity malts
Taste - Bitter lemon zesty hops, soft pale fruity malts, cereal, slight creamy note
Palate - soft carb, light body, frothy mouthfell. Bitter palate. Finish - dry, considerably bitter, lingering zest and some cereal. Overlingering, too dry and bitter
Overall - I found the finish a bit harsh. It’s a bit above average.

I wanted something interesting for my 1000th beer rating. A new golden ale from my home town fits the bill perfectly. Cask @ The Malt Cross. Hazy pale golden amber colour with a reasonable head. Mild resin malt aroma. Resin & citrus fruit flavour. Bitter aftertaste. Nice new light refreshing beer from home. Not the best but not bad either.
