2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Foam foam more foam. No real aroma but some green apple, sour notes, no hops overly carbonated...forgot to check bottle on date code, may be super old which is not necessarily their fault. I’ll try again to re rate

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 12/24/14
Aroma: The nose is toffee and caramel, with spice, nutty notes, grapefruit, pine, and resin
Appearance: A dark reddish-brown color with a giant, foamy beige head (boarding on a gusher)
Flavor: It has a solid malty sweetness, nutty, a little spice, and a strong hop bitterness
Palate: The mouthfeel gets a touch sticky, with a medium-plus body, and a fairly dry finish
The components of a nice beer all seem to be here, but it just doesn’t quite come together. It’s one of those beers where, on a cooking competition show, the judge would tell the chef that there’s a good idea in there somewhere, but the execution wasn’t quite up to snuff. There’s a good beer in here somewhere, but on the output I only found an okay beer.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Another odd one from this brewery in a 22 bomber. Really nice clear garnet...soem what foamy. Old malt and old hop aroma and the flavor was the same. Pretty much a drain pour.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
"OK. Too much red and not enough IPA in this one. There’s bitterness but little floral or citrus or pine, and this was a keg, so hopefully age didn’t come into play. It was an ok RED, caramel and chocolate with a bittersweet finish, but not what I’d want if ordering an IPA."

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
I’m not a big IPA guy, this has that funky, barnyard smell, bitter taste, almost like very old/mild ginger taste that goes with the hops. OK IPA.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from Craft Beer Kings, aka Plaza Market. Pours dark copper with a huge creamy/fizzy head. Aromas of pine and roasted malt (lots of foam interfering here). Med +body. Flavor is rather nutty roasted malt, and apparently with pine. Its fairly malty, and perhaps just a bit more than I’d like - but there is a lot of hop.

[ Tap ][ Aztec ][ 4oz ][ Taster ][ $1-2 ][ 1/25/14 ]
>> Clear deep red pour. Great lacing. Nose is grilled fruit, juicy melon, grilled mango. Taste is aerated, mango juice, but with a very harsh bitter finish, slightly soapy. Not bad.

2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Poured almost all head, but it folded in fairly quickly, clinging to the glass. Once I can finally get to beer, it drinks with a mushy, caramel malt punch. Despite the epic foam, this drinks with a very thin body. (#5423, 1/29/2014)

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap @ the super-nice Hendo’s Local Pizza & Pint, San Macros, CA.
Appearance: Hoooly...the blood dimmed tide is loosed! That is easily the most menacing looking brew I’ve ever had!
Nose: extremely floral, really complex. There’s some honeysuckle, pine, dandelions even... Interesting, to say the least.
Taste: immediate hop assault is smoothed a bit by some very subtle sweetness (reminiscent a bit of a burnt sugar candy). Floral notes are all over the place. Lasting bitter aftertaste. Clearly a sipping drink.
A really interesting brew, that would’ve definitely made Huitzilopotchli a one satisfied deity. Not something that I would drink daily...Still, I would’ve easily purchased it again just for the appearance!
