Premium lager beer & a gourmet serrano chili.

This has itís place. Itís a pale lager, but the Serrano chili aroma, flavor (to a slightly lesser extent) & the afterburn makes it way more enjoyable than your average pale lager. Murky pee yellow, otherwise something I wouldnít totally mind having again, though I wonít seek it out. Low-medium heat.

Bottle: Slightly hazy, light yellow-gold with a minimal white head.....and a dessicated cigarette-butt-looking pepper bobbling forlornly about. Pepper, grain malt aroma. Taste is a fairly substantial serrano burn...which increases gradually... Grain alt, a bit of honey... Honestly? Itís hot, but not ridiculously so....not a bad beer for the chili sub-style.

Clear golden color. Little head or body. Chili in aroma, and overpowering in taste. Unique, and extreme!

I may start requesting a serrano chili whenever I order a lager, as itís certainly an improvement. Not as hot as Iíd thought it might be, so actually allows some malty beerness through.

From a bottle. Pours clear bright gold with no head and a pepper floating on the top. Smells like old vegetables, spice, dirt, not a good aroma. Taste is smooth and innocent at first, then like green vegetables, gradually building up to a fiery burn. Good pepper flavor. Light body and low carbonation. Would be great in cooking, but would definitely ruin your palate from tasting other things for about half an hour.

Bottle. Pours clear gold with fizzy white head that quickly dissipates...and an actual chili pepper...definitely a first. Aroma is pale malts, heavy chili peppers, light toast, and light fruit esters. Flavor is pale malts, light sweetness, and then the spicy pepper notes build rapidly before completely taking over and leaving behind a satisfying burn. Light body and medium carbonation.

Pale gold straw with a white head. No pepper, fruity malts, caramel, cardboard. Watery palate, tastes like Miller lite, big lack of pepper.

11.2 oz bottle. Aroma consists of chili pepper and pale lager beer. Pours hazy pale gold with a medium white had that falls after a minute into a ring of foam; small chili pepper bobs around on top. Taste is spicy obviously, but thereís also a breadiness. The heat is pretty strong, but itís not quite up there with Cave Creek or Stoneís Crime and Punishment; still, itís leaving my lips burning. Body is thin, but the mouthfeel has a nice creaminess to it. Great chili beer for those who think Cave Creek and Crime and Punishment are too extreme, but still want some heat in their beer.

Bottle. Ave Caesar, morituri te salutant. Itís at least a decent color, though there is no head. The nose is -- um -- you know those pickled peppers that are on the table at Steak n Shake? Yeah. Smells exactly like that. Or like cheap pepper jack cheese. Sweet up front, then no mid-palate, then just heat -- and not even much heat at that; I expected more heat from a serrano, frankly. Itís got some warmth, but the lack of any body behind either the pepper or the beer leaves the whole thing lacking. Itís better than other chili lagers Iíve had, but thatís like saying someone is better looking than Steve Buscemi. Finish is almost non-existent. Forgettable.
