islay (405), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 28, 2008 Small sample at OSLO and Guerde’s tasting on Friday, 5-23-08. Labeled as number 103. Pours a hazy brown of a pleasant shade. Chocolate and raisin in the aroma; some dryness. Also some farmhouse ale smells. Coffee with sugar and honey in the flavor. Orange in the finish. Good, dry, coffee-like aftertaste. Medium body. Smooth in the palate. Bøgedal Nr. 0103 is a nice brew, but it’s nothing special.
Rune (1807), Tromsø, Norway Oct 2, 2008 Listed as no. 145 (and as no. 103) in the program and at the Bøgedal stand, European Beer Festival 08. A christmas beer with a hazy, dark appearance. Beige head. Sweet, dark fruits to the nose. The taste is a mix of choclate malts, spices and dried fruits. Welcoming, late arriving dry hops. Comprehensive stuff, but still rather easy to drink (13.09.2008). maniac (2022), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 27, 2008 Bottle at RBSG2008 Grand Tasting on 08/02/2008 as Bøgedal Nr. 103. Cloudy copper body with a small off-white head. Roast caramel, and molassas aroma. Yeast and caramel flavor. Medium body with moderately low carbonation. Ibrew2or3 (1756), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Sep 24, 2008 Courtesy of after4ever, thanks again Tom. Pours deep clear amber with thin white head. The aroma is a bit mild and also complex with hints of earthiness, black licorice, faint soft spices and herbs. I also get a mild level of dark fruity esters. The aroma is blended and smooth. The taste is as smooth as the nose with dark fruity esters mixed with black licorice and mild smooth earthiness. Wow, smooth and blended and very easy drinking. As the finish approaches I get some roasted malts and chocolate malts mixing with lingering dark fruity esters. There are several levels of complexity with most defying my ability to put to words. I also get a sense of even hop bitterness into the finish. glkaiser (999), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 22, 2008 Thanks to ?. after4ever? Dark brown w/ very light sweetness.
