theisti (986), Leawood, Kansas, USA May 15, 2008 750 ml bottle generously shared by after4ever at Uber Tavern in Seattle. Bottle brewed June 2007. Pour is black with ruby highlights. Not much of a head, what exists is dirty white. Aroma of soft sweetness along with some really light funkiness. Taste is really full, caramel maltiness, raisin fruitiness, nice development. Nice grassy earthiness on the palate. The funkiness returns with just a hint in the finish. Really nice one, thanks for sharing this Tom.
SuzyGreenberg (799), Seattle, Washington, USA May 30, 2008 750 ml bottle - wow, thanks tom for bringing this out; had never heard about this before, but after drinking i will never forget; pours a rich, deep brown with thin tan head and minor lacing; leaves a oily residue on the glass; i thought the odyssey had big aromas, but this certainly topped that; thick, resinous aromas of spice, brown sugar, pepper and fruit; texture to die for as it drinks rich, smooth and creamy; just the way i like it; flavors of dank fruit, caramel, sweet fruit; drinks so smooth and soft that it just slides right down almost w/o tasting it; thanks again tom!! after4ever (1652), Brier, Washington, USA May 14, 2008 750, corked, baled, and securely duct-taped for transit. Thanks, Thewolf! Wow, what an amazing little beer. Truly astonishing. Pours black with mahogany highlights. Thin grayish rim for a head. Spicey, pruney, peppery nose. Woolly, creamy body. Deliciously complex mid-palate: herbal, spicy, tree bark, earth, leaves, pepper. Soft and approachable, for all that. Insanely detailed and beautiful. And then it hits you that this beer is only 6.1%. Phenomenal. Thomas_E (4814), Copenhagen, Denmark May 3, 2008 Brown, black colour with a tan head. Malty, light roasted aroma with with fruity and light chocolate sweet notes. Malty, light chocolate sweet flavor with fruity notes. Light dry, bitter finish with sweet notes. Maria (3816), Thisted, Denmark Mar 2, 2008 Brown/black with a huge, nice and creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, sweetness, caramel, hints of licorice and raisin. The flavour has a light sweetness, a slightly dry citrus bitterness, notes of roasted malt, caramel, sweet licorice, fruit and in the finish the citrussy, dry bitterness is more pronounced. It’s a really nice and well-balanced beer!
