Doppelganger (1216), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Nov 21, 2008 Cask, Far From The Madding Crowd, Oxford. Dark brown, smallish light tan head. Warm candy/caramel aroma, full of fresh malty goodness with a little chocolate edge. Fresh sweet caramel malt flavor, a nice apple edge. Mineral chocolate finish. A very happy mild, brimming with flavor and life. harrisoni (5474), Ashford, Kent, England Apr 21, 2007 Cask gravity at Planet Thanet BF 2007. Brownish colour with no head. Malts are excellent. Brilliant mild. Lots of roasted flavours, grainy but not powdery. Great, great mild. Finish is just so roasty and gorgeous. MesandSim (4623), Highgate, Greater London, England Apr 20, 2007 A Mes rate:
Gravicask @ Planet Thanet. Attractive red brown colour. Mellow yeasty aroma with some chocolate. Similar sweet fruity flavour with some noticable roasted character too. Palate is excelent. Finish is the same. Jolly good stuff. TheGrandMaster (1526), Auckland, New Zealand Feb 27, 2007 Half pint gravity feed at the Luton Beer Festival, dark in colour with some ruby tints, but no head. Quite a complex and rich malty aroma, slightly grainy and some fruit in the back. A full mouthfeel for a mild, with a touch of chocolate. The finish is a bit sharp and grainy. chriso (4420), London, Greater London, England Oct 9, 2005 Cask (gravity dispense). Beer #5 at Bedford Beer Festival 2005. Tasting four milds together gave us the opportunity to compare and contrast. The Bartrams was a rich, chocolaty mild. The Fenland was coffee accented and straying into stout territory. The Pint-Sized was a more traditional thin, roasted malt style. This one had the emphasis on fruit. Berry fruit, and plenty of it, to go with the burnt malt character. Deep brown colour, not quite opaque. Dryish mouthfeel, with some sharp notes to the fruit and a hint of bitterness to provide decent grip for a mild.
