COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Alpha Series focuses on the use of hops in mead making. Only 16 gallons of this first batch were made. Over 7oz of hops, including Citra, Warrior, and Amarillo, were used to make a ’hop tea’. The ’hop tea’ was blended with orange blossom honey to make a strong, sweet mead. The finished product has a beautiful citrus-floral aroma and the mildly bitter hop flavor compliments the sweetness. OG: 1.130 FG: 1.126 Batch #80 Made on 5/26/10

In bottle. Pours a light golden colour with an aroma of pine hops, honey and musty yeast. Similar flavours with a very prominent hop character. Very bitter for a mead.

Bottle at cgarvieuk’s Danish Invasion evening. Very pale yellow colour. Big pungent resinous boozy nose, honey and grapefruit. Quite sweet front with a nice dryness that comes later. Resinous pine notes also, some tart apple, big pithy booze and a tart honeyed finish. Another very interesting mead from these guys.

Bottle at a tasting at James’ place. Pours a clear straw gold. Sweet fuzzy aromas, sweetness and a light hint of hops and strawberry and lychee. Medium bodied, sweet and warm. Hints of hops come through, but there’s a ton of honey. More lychee. Nice.

Generously shared by BOLTZ7555. Bottle pours glistening pale gold with no head. Aroma shows notes of vanilla, orange blossom, honey, lemon zest and an underlying herbal quality. Flavor shows the same with some additional floral qualities that were not quite present in the nose. Overall body is moderate to full with well balanced sweetness. The hopping on this thing definately takes the cake and separates it from every mead i’ve had to this day. Great stuff!

Light honey colored pour with zero head but solid legs. Aroma is sweet with vanilla, symple syrup, fruit and citrus finding their way to the nose. Wow, is the flavor unique with lots of spicy hops blending into the sweetness. Tons of herbs in there along with a nice floral component. Can’t get over the hop profile...so assertive but doesn’t clash with the sweetness at all. Kind of like a candied orange peel glazed in honey and sprinkled with cracked black pepper. Pretty tasty.

Quite the incredible blend of honey and hops. Sweet, lightly bitter. Dessert qualities and herbal notes. A wonderful enigma of a beverage.
