3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Bart (2509) - Brussels, - JAN 22, 2012
bottle @ RBBWG 2012 thanks to Sebletitje. Golden blond coloured mead with no carbonation and no head. Sweet sour fruity hinted aroma with touches of apple, pear, flowers and honey. Full palate; Finish is fruity with a slightly sweet-tart balanced oaky fruity hint and alcoholic touches. Not bad.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 fbm115 (174) - New Jersey, USA - MAR 6, 2012
Clear off white/yellowish color and still. Smells of apple juice oak, slight spirit and mild honey. Taste is dry juice, oak, vanillia, spirit, mild citrus, light honey. Overall dry and fairly refreshing. Slightly acidic. Overall enjoyable and something I would want to have again.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 OmegaX (538) - Florida, USA - FEB 20, 2012
I love mead. Nose is light, green apple and some bourbon and vanilla notes. Some of the aromas remind me of a moscato or sweet riesling. Almost buttery. This one pours a light yellow color. Flavors are green apple, caramel, some oak and bourbon, and a hint of buttery wine notes. Good stuff but $$$$.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Chipalsa (703) - Florida, USA - FEB 20, 2012
This mead poured a clean, yellow body. The scent was sweet and spicy; thick with honey, cherries and wood. The taste was again, honey but with a nice finish of bourbon and citrus - almost like candy this one was. Must track down some more of these.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Martinus (868) - Nijmegen, NETHERLANDS - JAN 27, 2012
Colour of white wine. No carbonation, no head. Aroma of apples, white wine (sauvignon blanc), light honey, quite floral. Flavour rather sweet, quite alcoholic, sweet apples, light vanilla, some bitterness and astringency following up. Finish is pure floral honey with a massive booze head. My first ever mead, and I quite like it.
(From 37,5cL bottle @ RBBWG 2012, Antwerpen. Thanks for sharing, sebletitje!)
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 77ships (976) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - JAN 19, 2012
375 ml. bottle sampled @ RBWG 2012 – thx to sebletitje – comes in the most incredible purple coloured bottle I have ever seen, quite interested in this one since I have never had a mead before – clear apple juice with no head – very sweet apples & apple juice with alcohol is the smell – taste is very sweet, sweet apples followed by bitter honey and bit too overwhelming booze kick in the finish, in link of oak, low carb & slick, made me think a bit too much of apple juice mixed with honey and too much alcohol, interesting but not quite my thing
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Benzai (2701) - Oirschot, NETHERLANDS - JAN 16, 2012
Sampled @ RBBWG Antwerpen. Courtesy of Sebletitje. Very pale yellow, no head. Smell fruits, apple, alcohol. Taste sweet, very much warming alcohol in the finish. Soft carbo, medium to full body.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 otakuden (1558) - Vero Beach, USA - OCT 8, 2011
Appearance: clear light straw with yellow at its deepest depths. Some miniscule bubbles – hints of residual fermentation? Swirls with sticky spots.
Nose: apple flesh with a tickle of caramel. Mulled cider with whole cinnamon sticks. Raw white oak. Whispers of entwined spice and heat – nutmeg, allspice. Flambéed apple slices. Cooked honey.
Palate: sweet. Mouth-coating along the sides with pure honey fresh from the comb. Sweetest in the middle. Dry finish with cinnamon sticks and white oak. Cooked apple finishes last – sweet, spiced, flambéed, and married with oak. Vanilla caramel oak esters – warm yet cool at the same time.
Final Thoughts: quite a delight I must say. It was intriguing the additional character the oak added to the mead in a harmony as if they were meant to be. Separated by time, maybe?

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 nick76 (3583) - Tampa, Florida, USA - JUL 6, 2011
The aroma is pretty good but has a major fault it has plenty of sweet honey and a hint of bourbon barrels but it also has a funkiness that is bad. The appearance is yellow with no head. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is a bit oily. Overall this is not bad but has to many faults to enjoy.
