A deep red pour. Looks like black cherry koolaid. A faint potpourri aroma. Blackberry definitely dominates the flavor. It has a slight almost peppery tingle that it leaves on the back of your tongue. I can’t pinpoint the flavor but overall nice mouthfeel.

Pretty awesome. Blackberry works very well here. Pours hazy ruby. Taste of blackberry is big and well integrated. Nice honey. Very nice. Finishes sweet. On tap at DC Beer Festival.

The appearance had a black color with quick less than half a centimeter’s worth of head that barely lasts and what is left concaves at the edges. More than enough bubbles clinging to the sides. The smell had blackberries, cloves and orange zest combined wonderfully, The taste was sweet but still had a nice spicy/zestiness to make it seem balanced over the tastebuds. Sweet and spicy aftertaste and it doesn’t have any finish whatsoever. On the palate, it wasn’t as harsh as I thought it was going to be as there’s an even somewhat smoothness invading delicately over the palate. Overall, this is the best mead I’ve had to date, though I still don’t understand why meads are considered "beers" on this website.

Wow, what an interesting mead this is! Cinnamon and clove smell. Berry and clove taste with hibiscus tea. Odd, but oddly enjoyable!

Dark ruby pour with a 1 finger, creamy light purple head. Aroma is big on blackberry, delicate floral notes, clove spice and some perfumey floral notes. Flavor is blackberry and clove up front, then orange peel, perfumey floral notes and some light honey notes. Medium body, juicy entry, light acidity, light blanketing carbonation. The whole thing is a bit like potpourri, but in a very tasty, very enjoyable way.

Pours a very dark ruby, almost coagulated blood in color. A small head on a vigorous pour quickly recedes. The nose is of blackberries and light spice (clove). The mouthfeel is light, as it should be, but manages to be smooth and almost slick. The flavor profile is outstanding - complex, but balanced, and bursting in flavor. It begins with a burst of sweet blackberry which rides over a honey sweetness. It then progresses to a bit of tartness over a mild clove. The finish is smooth, yet a bit dry, and leaves you with a lingering flavor that is all encompassing. Outstanding is the only way to describe this 6% sparkling mead.

Bottle from Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours purple brown with no head and a honey aroma. There is a blackberry and honey flavor with adry finish. Fun to drink.

Bottle pours with a deep dark rosy body that has a small pink-ish head. The aroma is full of sweet berry fruit goodness that has some tart tannins and is smoothed out by sweet rich honey notes. The taste is similar with a pleasing fresh fruity load of berries that pick up a bit of an earthy berry skin note mixed with honey sweetened clove spiciness. To midway it develops some mild tannin tartness kept in check by the slick smooth honey sweetness. Dandy stuff.

3/20/2014. 500 ml. bottle. Pours dark red with no head. Light carbonation. Aromas of blackberries, and funky yeast. Refreshing blackberry flavors up front with spices setting in. A bit dry finish. Interesting mead.
