COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This very limited batch shows just how complex a mead can be. This mead is made with a blend of orange blossom and buckwheat honey, then is aged in a bourbon barrel. This process mellows the mead and adds a noticeable bourbon flavor for a wonderful sipping mead. This mead ages well. Serve in a brandy snifter.

UPDATED: JUN 9, 2010 Bottle. Pours gold. Aroma is honey, wood, bourbon, alcohol, and fruit. Flavor is honey, alcohol, fruit, vanilla, and bourbon. Bourbon isn’t as strong as I was expecting. Thick body. A wonderfully sweet and decadent after dinner sipper.

Far and away my favorite mead of all the ones that I have had. Only other one that comes close is their Margarita Mead. Pours golden mead color. Nose is honey, bourbon, vanilla, and some wood. Flavor blends a whole mess of sweetness into the mead: bourbon, vanilla, some almost maple character and lots of honey. Really enjoyable sipping mead.

Bottle @ Miami Fandango ’10 gathering. Cheers to Greg, tpd975 for the share. clear golden pour aroma and flavors, not sure what to say, this is an outstanding mead. Load of complexity here, bourbon goodness, lots of woods, warming mouthfeel, herbal note and buckwheat honey. Overall palate is thick and syrupy with lots of sweet honey finished up with the bourbon barrel. Unique and damn tasty. At 17% this one packs a nice punch and yet it sips slowly without the bourbon overpowering the whole experience.

Bottle from Secret Santa. Unsure of the batch, but I am assuming it is 2 (the most recent one). Labeled R0131208. Pours with a deep golden body and laser etched legs. Aroma of bourbon. Big surprise. Aroma of wet wood, vanilla, honey, sweetness and a slight alcohol tinge. Taste is sweet, there is no doubt that this is a dessert mead. Buttery, some bourbon, very sweet, vanilla, wood. Light sort of aged-sur-lis notes as well that are hard to describe beyond that. Light hay notes as well from the pungent buckwheat honey. Comes across with a hammer. Hefty mouthfeel. Delicious.
