COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This mead is not for the weak or timid. The bold, rich taste of buckwheat honey carries through into this mead. Buckwheat honey has a very earthy, almost malty, flavor and aroma. We only use 100% pure buckwheat honey in this mead. Enjoy by itself or with BBQ foods.

Pours a rich and inviting chestnut color. The aroma is unique, as I have never had a mead in which the "spirit" of the base honey shined through as well as it is has here. The buckwheat note is dominant, with the a fore mentioned malty notes, along with some Oolong tea, jasmine and some honeysuckle notes coming through as well. Flavor is sweet, with a nice slight bitterness on the finish. Notes of sweet pie spices round out this nice mead.

Amber pour. Aroma of buckwheat pancakes, honey, light oaky notes...interesting. Flavor is sweet, and reminds me a lot of waffles or pancakes.

Thanks to MeadMe for the share. Pours a still orange amber with some nice legs. Nose is somewhat thick with earthy honey and some mild fruit/ (plum?) flavor combined with the bounteous buckwheat honey. Flavor is similar with buckwheat honey shining here and giving off earthy honey, vague hints of fruit, and some mild booze. Very nice mead.

Love me some buckwheat honey and this mead really let’s the buckwheat shine. Pours a nice rich amber color of brown, nice and thick looking in the glass. Aromas of earthy honey, with a touch of alcohol. Wonderful flavors here. Toffee, caramel, maple and honey comb. Subtle fruit with a touch of spice. Has the bready malty flavor that I get from buckwheat honey. Really really nice. Full in body, rich, and sweet.

Corked 37.5cl bottle at Papsø’s
Hazy deep blond color. Although the French often use buckwheat honey for Mead, this one has the most evident aroma of buckwheat, and honey; breadish, rustic, but very interesting. Very sweet, but not syrupy; and the sweetness is cut by the strong alcohol feeling; in the front there is also some light acidity and very light carbonation; the honey flavor is clear, as evident are, once again, its roots; there is a very light bitterness in the final, that in a buckwheat Mead doesn’t disturb as in other more floral ones; and the alcohol warms the mouth. Nice, sharp, peculiar.
