2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Drake (6503) - Ivy, Virginia, USA - MAY 10, 2013
375 mL bottle. Pours a dark bronze color. Weak legs. Aroma of rich coffee, fruity notes, chocolate and mild honey. The taste is coffee, honey, citrus. earth. Medium bodied, moderate booze. Weird, and I’m not yet sold on coffee mead, but its not horrible.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Kristophe (11) - SWEDEN - APR 29, 2013
Bottle at home, thanks Ramy! Copper color, very good looking as always from B. Nektar. Aroma is heavy burnt and a pretty big amount of coffee, honey and spices in the background. Taste is unfortunately kind of weak, and not as much coffee as expected. Pretty much honey, but not enough to make this mead as good as it is fun. It is pretty fun, though.

THX! for sharing this one Sebletitje. 375 ml. Neon Purple B. Nektar bottle done by 2 sort-of. Pours a coffee / copper shaded amber with no head. Nose is HUGE coffee, like being inside a coffee roastery and pushing your nose into the coffee, its BIG, very strongly roasted, lightly burned, heavy, light wild, touch herbal honey and sugar, thick sweetness underneath. Taste is luckily less crazily heavy on the coffee – might have been interesting and apparently was a bit like that when fresh – sweet honey taste with very thick camomile sweetness, crystallized sugar, wild thistles and flowers, lots of coffee rushing in, very strong dominant coffee, lots of it, very well roasted, coffee bitterness in the back. Body is not a thick as suggested,… Very enjoyable and I am not much of a coffee lover.

Bottle. Dark reddish brown pour, still. Aroma of cold coffee, quite potent coffee at that. Peppery chile notes as well, honey, floral aromas. Taste is sweet, light alcohol warmth, lots of coffee, no mistake there. Palate is warming with a med-dry finish. Tasty.

Bottle shared by Bacterial! Light tan pour, no carbonation and an aroma of Kahlua and amaretto. Flavor is a bit of coffee, plenty of honey and green pepper notes. Interesting mead, but I just can’t get past the green pepper.

Pours an earthy amber color. Nose is coffee and earthy. Taste is excellent coffee first then robust honey in the aftertaste and some nice heat from the alcohol. Nice and interesting!

Thanks to PaulUnwin for sharing this one. Cheers, Paul! Pours a clear yellow with no head. Nose is a burst of earthy coffee, but I can see the kind of earthy vinous quality in the description. The nose of coffee is very bitter, balanced out by the sweetness of the mead behind it. Flavor is a burst of meady sweetness with the bitterness of coffee behind it. Outstanding selection and flavor combination with some earthy coffee lingering into the finish.
