COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Ethiopian Harrar coffee is one of the oldest coffee beans still produced and is known for its distinctive fruity, wine flavor. To make this mead we cold-soaked 6 lbs of it for 48 hours to extract as much of the wonderful flavor and aroma as possible. Roastmaster and all-around coffee nut, Frank Lanzkron-Tamarazo (owner of Chazzano), provided his consultation for this first collaboration between the two Ferndale, MI companies. The coffee was selected to pair perfectly with the earthy Michigan wildflower honey. Serve at cellar temperature.

Sweet floral aroma. Clear with a hint of yellow. Very sweet, nectar flavor that just sits on your tongue. Lingering sweet finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Has an impressive amount of coffee hanging around for such an old mead. Creates a weird juxtaposition between the honey sweetness and the sort of earthy coffee tones, not bad but not great.

Bottle with a sticker stamped: 1220511.
Appearance: The body is an amber to copper with a velvety haze.
Aroma: The aroma is huge and distinct of coffee while my glass is near a foot away. Up close the aroma reminds me of mild vanilla with huge earthy iced coffee aromas. Gosh the aroma is so incredible with so much coffee.
Taste: The intro is of mild honey but develops into a slightly bitter/sour cold black coffee flavor with a chewy underlying sugar flavor. The intro is really bland, but once this kicks in itís like a black iced coffee with too much sugar. The finish lingers slightly sour like old coffee.
Palate: Near thick with no carbonation.
Overall: Maybe this is too old, Iím guessing itís from 2011, as the coffee has become a bit stale and sour, but this is probably amazing fresh. The coffee aroma is surreal.

375 mL bottle. Pours a dark bronze color. Weak legs. Aroma of rich coffee, fruity notes, chocolate and mild honey. The taste is coffee, honey, citrus. earth. Medium bodied, moderate booze. Weird, and Iím not yet sold on coffee mead, but its not horrible.

Bottle at home, thanks Ramy! Copper color, very good looking as always from B. Nektar. Aroma is heavy burnt and a pretty big amount of coffee, honey and spices in the background. Taste is unfortunately kind of weak, and not as much coffee as expected. Pretty much honey, but not enough to make this mead as good as it is fun. It is pretty fun, though.

THX! for sharing this one Sebletitje. 375 ml. Neon Purple B. Nektar bottle done by 2 sort-of. Pours a coffee / copper shaded amber with no head. Nose is HUGE coffee, like being inside a coffee roastery and pushing your nose into the coffee, its BIG, very strongly roasted, lightly burned, heavy, light wild, touch herbal honey and sugar, thick sweetness underneath. Taste is luckily less crazily heavy on the coffee Ė might have been interesting and apparently was a bit like that when fresh Ė sweet honey taste with very thick camomile sweetness, crystallized sugar, wild thistles and flowers, lots of coffee rushing in, very strong dominant coffee, lots of it, very well roasted, coffee bitterness in the back. Body is not a thick as suggested,Ö Very enjoyable and I am not much of a coffee lover.

Bottle. Dark reddish brown pour, still. Aroma of cold coffee, quite potent coffee at that. Peppery chile notes as well, honey, floral aromas. Taste is sweet, light alcohol warmth, lots of coffee, no mistake there. Palate is warming with a med-dry finish. Tasty.

Bottle shared by Bacterial! Light tan pour, no carbonation and an aroma of Kahlua and amaretto. Flavor is a bit of coffee, plenty of honey and green pepper notes. Interesting mead, but I just canít get past the green pepper.

Bottle shared by Jeff! Pours calm murky honey color. Aroma is strong coffee and dry grounds. Taste is crazy coffee very strong and then the warm sweet honey shows. Palate is full and slick with a drying warm finish.
