This mead is the Non-Imperial version of our Imperial Funky Monky. A smaller mead, but big on flavor. Tart Balaton cherries, honey, and Styrian Golding hops.

Pours dark red. Think white lacing. Smells of cherry. Taste is sweet upfront, with a tartness that lingers. Taste a bit of the hops in it too. Somewhat reminds me of a lambic in some aspects.

Bottled. Bright torch red in color, still, with an extremely thin white ring of head. Mildly flowery clover and honey aroma with mild bing cherry, light malt and earthy, dusty hops at the tail end - somewhat reminiscent of a weaker New Glarus Belgian Red. Moderately sweet flavor punctuated by increasingly growing moments of tartness. The finish is slightly crisp with notes of tart apple, smooth honey, a little clove. Extremely lightly carbonated, but just enough to lend a champagne-like feel to the aftertaste. Very tasty.

500 ml bottle. Pours a dark ruby colour with a nice red hue and a small head. Loads of small visible bubbles. Aroma is very herbal with basil, fennel, honey and grass. Some mint as well. Flavour is very extreme with it’s sour cherry juice, basil, honey sweetness, grassy bitterness, green tea, cinnamon and wood as well. Some similarities with a gluhwein, as was on their Black Fang, but not as much here. Full bodied and a long, tart, cherry finish. Beautiful balance and even sessionable, yet extreme. A big mead for such low ABV.
