4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled with the lady battens at obx for thanksgiving 2013. Clear bright dark red pour with very faint ring of whitish/pinkish head. Very floral potpourri nose with straight up cherry juice and just a hint of cinnamon. Like tart cherry pie. Not fake or medicinal in any way.
I guess the hops are in there as a balance for the sweetness, cause this thing, while definitely sweet, is not too sweet for my palate. A little flat on the palate. I remember thinking that this would make a killer coctail if you mixed it with some champagne or sprite!
Didnít care for it quite as much as the zombie killer, but it is pretty damn tasty.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from City Beverage in Winston Salem NC. Itís deep ruby/brown in the glass with very little head. Honey, cherries, and hops are in the aroma. The honey, cherries, and hops blend to be reminiscent of a sweet belgian dubbel in the taste. This mead is very enjoyable and may become a regular fixture in my drinking arsenal.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml bottle at home. Pours a clear deep reddish amber, ruby color with a small rapidly disappearing off white head. The aroma and flavor have some herbal and floral hops over the honey sweetness and slightly tart cherry notes. The hops cut the sweetness and make this more drinkable than somemeads. It would be interesting to try the imperial version of this.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours with a deep yet clear bloody bronze hue with some off white foam, lace and legs. Aromas are very herbal and noble like hop character, cherry, rich, baked bread. Light tartness. Honey is almost absent. Flavors are medium sweet lots of dark cherry tannins and fruit, dry, low acidic, herbal, very lightly bitter. Sort of a mix of dark cherries and a nice herbal, almost pils or hoppy saison character. Medium dry with similar carbonation. Nicely drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle; Pour is slight murky mahogany, with a modest, fine bubbled, off white head into this glass. It retains on the poor side, with some light, sticky lacing present here. The nose is honey, grass, cherry juice, and some earthen cherry pits as well. The flavor profile is initial sweet tart, the balaton cherries come through, moving to honeycomb, breaded malts, light grassy hops, with cherry pits at the finish line. This is nice, for sure.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate-heavy sweet cherry, light tart cherry, clove, ginger, and a hint of perfume. It pours a transparent garnet when held to the light with a small soapy pink-tinted beige head that eventually fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. Thereís a lot of dripped webbing on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy sweet cherry. The sweetness fades into moderate tart cherry in the finish. Thereís also some light clove, a touch of honey, and grass. Itís medium bodied with light-moderate carbonation. Overall, I love cherries so Iím going to like this beer more than most. I could drink this all day.
