Bottle at the Colorado Mead Tasting í12. Pour is clear honeydew with a small white head and decent lacing. Hoppy, earthy, dirty, grapefruit peel aroma. Taste is sweet and earthy upfront, leading to a smooth middle, ending lightly bitter and dirty. Medium body with high carbonation. Really weird mead and not very appetizing.

Colorado mead tasting 2012 - IPA style mead? - lightly hazy light yellow - in the nose, the floral nature of the hops actually works fairly well with the floral notes and sweetness of the honey - much more so than I was expecting - unfortunately, the flavor is a bit of a mess - quite bitter - the hop flavor combines with the more floral notes of the honey, like I the nose, but in this case, it tastes soapy and overly bitter - finish of sandalwood and flower soap - ick.

Pour out of 500 mL bottle, thanks Steve! Clear yellow pour with no head, aroma brought notes of big dank, pine, grass, hints of grapefruit, touch of earth, hints of honey and floral notes, interesting. Taste is sweet orange, grapefruit, some slight pine, biscuit, honey, slight vanilla, finishing fairly sweet, slightly bitter.

2012 Colorado Mead Tasting at Arminís house. Thanks to Stephen! Pours a very light, clear yellow appearance with no head. Spicy, garlic hoppy, a touch fruity, well carbonated aroma. Tangy honey, pear, garlic, a touch piney hoppy flavor. Pretty strange and Iím not a huge fan.

Bottle on Amtrak Train 27 - The Empire Builder ( from Binnyís South Loop) - 04/11/12. Very pale yellow with a thin white head that clears to the edges and forms a small pond. Nose comprises honey and piss, light citrus, farm like, touch of horse. Tastes of sweet sugars, herbs, medicinal qualities, honey, strepsils. Medium bodied with limited carbonation leading to a sweet acrid finish. Meh ! I will admit I have only had a few meads in my time and none for a good few years but this tasted nothing like them.

Hardly any color. Just a hint of yellow distinguishes it from water. Although, because of how clear it is, itís fun to watch the bubbles constantly float to the top of the glass. Aroma is very inviting with a mix of sweet honey and citrus hops. Flavor is very unique. Loads of sweetness from honey and grapes, counteracted by a hit of hops. Interesting finish, as well. Lick your lips and get a hint of sweetness, but the bitterness from the hops lingers. Quite tasty. Bonus points for creativity, cleverness, and the label.

Bottle. Pours clear straw yellow with fizzy white head. Aroma has sort of a buttery chard character, floral notes, minerals. Flavors have initial honey sweetness but then an odd twangy bitterness comes on, minerals, orange citrus with earthy florals, and leaves a medicinal numbing like character. Finish also has a cough syrup quality. Iím thinking its a poor mead then odd hop character doesnít help.

Aroma is sweet an honey filled, an appearance is almost like a yellow water. Taste is full mead, with amazing hop character. Palate is dry and nice. Very fun fusion mead.
