Had the chance to visit B. Nektar. What fun! Evil Genius pours a very light straw yellow. Pretty clear and very pale. Wasnít sure what to expect given the color. Aroma is ripe oranges, orange zest, lemon, sweet citrus, the hops and honey come together to make a sweet citrus aroma, quite good. The taste is what I was personally hoping for. What you would expect to be honest, in the best way. Itís hard to rate a product that hasnít been done very much. If it was a normal IPA, I might say it is too sweet, but itís a mead, and as such, really interesting. The sweetness comes up front, with huge citrus again, orange and lemon, really light and refreshing in the mouth, thinner feeling than a normal mead, not big and thick. On the end the bitterness comes through to remind you of the hops and balance the sweetness. It is what it advertises, honey and hops, but I think they did it really well. Not terribly complex, just really fun to drink and they make honey and hops work well. Canít wait to try it again!

500mL bottle. Pours a clear pale yellow color with a very brief white head. Aroma is sweet: grapes mostly, some floral/grassy notes as well. Light bodied, taste is sweet but not too sweet. Not picking up any hops at all. Finish continues with the sweet theme. Ok, not bad.

Sample at the DBLDP on 08/31/2014. Pale yellow-gold color with a minimal white head and sparse legs on the glass. Floral and fruity aroma. Medium body with flavors of floral honey, fruit and slight hops. The finish is sweet fruit and grassy hops. Decent overall.

One of those things you get cuz youíll probably never see it again and you donít want to miss it. Mind-blowing it is not. It tastes like a dry hopped Mead... The only real taste is from the hops, itís fairly simplistic and seems unfinished. Though I believe this has been replaced with some other crazy stuff so... It was definitely worth a try, b. nektar can brew the shit out of anything.

50cl bottle. Small white head that wholly dissipates atop crystal clear pear juice body. Aroma is moderately sweet, orange, some honey, floral, light grape, grapefruit. Taste is moderately sweet, grapefruit/orange, light floral, honey. Light-medium body, light stickiness. The combination of flavors clashes rather than merges for me.

500 ml bottle from Homer321 - thanks LaSean! Pours a clear, very pale yellow gold with some fizzing bubbles initially that quickly settle into nothing. Looks like a white wine, basically. Aroma of florals, grass, straw, earth, and honey. The flavor has more honey, balanced by grass, florals, herbs, and earth. Light-medium bodied, with a vinous, lightly bitter mouthfeel and low carbonation. Not as hop-forward as advertised, but a decent mead. Underrated.

My very first mead, so itís difficult to rate this. I definitely prefer this to an average sake, but give me a beer any day. I have no idea why this one is marketed as an IPA-style mead - thereís no citrus or bitterness. Itís actually pretty watery and inoffensive. Just nothing noteworthy about this.

Bottle @ The Lets do a Chris O tasting. Pours looking like a white wine, big lychee nose, big lychee taste, fruity and sweet but also lip smacking dry as well, fantastic
