COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We used fresh peeled ginger and raw Michigan wildflower honey to ferment this mead, and then aged it in rye whiskey barrels.

This is the mad creation of Ian Radogost-Givens, meadmaker extroirdinaire and partner at B. Netkar. Keep an eye out for his creations. He will soon be leading up our experiMental B-Sides series, and our barrel series.

Draft and bottle. Straw yellow color with a white head. Draft was 100 times better than the bottle. Both had a nice ginger and honey aroma with an oak kick. The draft at the meadery was amazing. Killer sweet mead with a great ginger ale finish. The bottle didn’t have the ginger ale finish at all. Totally weird.

Bottle. Pours clear pale yellow with a small amount of bubbles that rise and completely fade away. Aroma is not what I expected. Honey obviously but I’m not getting much ginger. Just spicy rye and vanilla. Taste is sweet honey mixed with boozy rye whiskey. Really just get a hint of ginger which is surprising. Gets very boozy when it warms but still doesn’t seem like it’s 17%. Well made but I’d probably enjoy it more at 10-12%.

bottle shared at franks tasting with a bunch of heads....needed all of them and still didn’t finish theis fireball. Notes were whiskey flame, wood char, burnt honey, and plastic. Ginger was there as it warmed but really weird and no where near as good as the Schramm Ginger. Really Hot.

Bottle at franks. Pours a clear body. Aroma is glue, artificial sugar, and spice. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of artificial cleaner, spice, ginger, glue and magic.

It honestly smells of cheap whiskey. But still very nice feel. And good smooth aftertaste. Very different. Huge strong taste. As it warms it reveals an even bigger alcohol taste.

Bottle from Umich03jm. Pours a surprisingly light, pale, clear yellow color, with a moderate sweet aroma of honey, banana, other ripe fruit…no ginger, but this is nice. Flavor is fairly sweet, but within bounds for me, and really nice. There is substantial alcohol but I think that’s good with something this sweet. Although ginger doesn’t really come to mind with this, it probably contributes to some of the heat. Mild carbonation, substantial on the palate, and has a long lingering and satisfying finish. Overall this is another really tasty mead from this meadery. I dig this a lot. Thanks, JM.

Poured at B Nektar. Poured clear pale yellow. Aroma is sweet with strong ginger cinnamon. Quite smooth. Slight tart taste.

Nice ginger. Very light spiciness. The rye mixes pretty well with the ginger.

Bottle - Pours a very light yellow. There is a pleasant smell of rye and sweetness in the aroma. The taste is sweet and gingery. There is a little tingle at the end. Very well done!

Pours almost clear. Wonderful aromas of candied ginger, oak, and whiskey. Flavor is wonderful. A wonderful mix of candied ginger and fresh honey. Rather sweet without approaching cloying. The barrel comes through wonderfully. Light oak and notes of whiskey. Mild carbonation and medium body makes this 17% beast absolutely crushable. Wow.
