COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with dark and light agave nectar, orange blossom honey, fresh lime juice, lime zest, and orange zest. This mead was inspired by the popular tequila beverage. This is a variation on a recipe that’s been floating around our homebrewing club (F.O.R.D.) for years.

Pours a bright yellow with a neon hue. Sweet nose with lime acidity and citrus with a mild honey nose. Agave sweetness detected. Taste is citrus acidic lime with agave sweetness and mild honey. Overall very enjoyable. Good sweet/ acidic balance. Definitely one of my favorites from B.Nektar.

Bottle shared by drowland, my first mead tick, pours a clear light golden yellow, the aroma is very sweet with some fruit touches the flavor is sweet with the honey but has some fruit notes in the finish, slight booze touch as well, good stuff.

bottle... light gold body, not much here... smells pretty good, sticky, lime, amaretto, not much balance but like some liquor mixed drink... more amaretto in the taste, a bit of tequila on the finish that I could do with out, but tastes like a sweet starter kit margarita mixer, if that’s what you’re going for, give it a shot, one of the better B. meads

Pours clear very pale yellow color with no head. Aromas of agave and lime. Tastes like a margarita. Light to medium body with no carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel. Quite enjoyable if you like margaritas.

Bottle purchased at some store in Michigan. Gold pour with no carbonation and some legs. Aroma is very margarita-like with lime, booze and orange to go with the meady honey character. Honey on the tongue first, with a bunch of citrus on the back end with lime predominant. Pretty solid.

Appearance: mostly clear with a touch of chill haze which seems to cling to the sides of my glass. Faint lime juice tint but mostly light yellow. No carbonation (of course).
Nose: honey in the middle and along the sides. Salty and briny. Freshly squeezed key-lime with a rim of salt. Cactus and cactus bloom. Lemon. Eyes touch watery. Raw honeycomb mingles with dew-dropped freshly cut green grass.
Palate: ooh, interesting. Clean and sweet with powdered sugar and honey. Key lime in the middle – sweet and zippy at the same time. Cactus. More lime zips through the middle. Salty finish makes the mouth water. Gentle sweetness is almost overpowered by the saltiness. Slowly grows some warmth in the chest. Sticky lips.
Final Thoughts: as with my margaritas in real life, I’ll skip the salt please and thanks. Pretty much spot-on for a Margarita-style Melomel but the saltiness could have been toned down a notch or two.

This mead is impressively clear, pouring still, and possessing an almost chartreuse aspect illuminating its clarity. The nose is not what I want it to be, but it is in line with the description on the bottle: lime and lemon zest with orange blossom notes. Some white wine notes are underlying as well. The flavor is not unpleasant or bad, it is just very reminiscent of a decent-tasting wine cooler. Or Boone’s Farm. As I get deeper into this Melomel, I have found the direct comparison. It is strikingly like what I recall the green (or was it blue?) MD20/20 tasted like. You’ll get more bang for your buck with the Mad Dog, be it green or blue.
