COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with dark and light agave nectar, orange blossom honey, fresh lime juice, lime zest, and orange zest. This mead was inspired by the popular tequila beverage. This is a variation on a recipe that’s been floating around our homebrewing club (F.O.R.D.) for years.

Bottle at the Colorado Mead Tasting ’12, courtesy of Aaron. Thanks Man! Pour is golden yellow with no head and good legs. Lemon, lime zest, a touch of honey, basil, and citrus in the aroma. Taste is lemon, sweet honey a touch of tequila, green apples, apricot, and pears with a dry, lingering finish. Sticky mouthfeel with no carbonation. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours with a very light haze, full yellow hue. Still, with some legs. Aromas are of honey, waxy, baked apple, very floral and medium sweet, lime zest and sweetened orange peel. Spicy and zesty. Margarita might be a reach in concept, but it smells good. Fruity. Flavors are very sweet for the concept, some agave, bitter, zesty, floral, honey, waxy. Medium juicy, spicy, waxy. Lots of tannin or other bitterness, light lime, floral orange blossom. Full bodied, viscous, still, kind of an unsettled balance.

2012 Colorado Mead Tasting at Armin’s house. Pours a light yellow, clear appearance with no head. Sweet and spicy lime, margarita mix, juicy orange citrusy aroma. Tangy, sweet lime, juicy margarita, quite sweet flavor with a bit more dryness on the finish. Strange but fun to try.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, thanks Aaron! Clear yellow pour with no head, aroma has notes of lime, some slight coriander, hints of earth, slight tequila notes, hints of honey, slight vanilla. Taste is a nice mix of lime, honey, slight spice, hints of tequila, slight vanilla, finishing fairly sweet, slightly boozy and dry.

375 mL bottle from Oak Tree, S. Plainfield. Damn that was a stubborn cork. Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber color with very fine floating particles. Aroma of honey with lots of floral notes and an undercurrent of lime. The taste is honey, lime, candied citrus, faint agave and a very faint pithiness. Medium bodied. The flavors are very mild, and I’d almost like them to come out a touch more, but it’s still an excellent mead.

Bottle pours yellow orange with no head. Smells tastes of honey lines sweet boozie bit. Tastes much the same it was ok for what it was. Starting to understand meads. To me mix of ice wine and like a sweet white. Nothing special I’d drink wine just the same cheaper and easier to get. Meh.

Bottle. Pour is clear apple juice. Aroma is green apple, hint of lime, honey, and light herb. Flavor is light raw-honey, faint citrus and then just cloying sweetness. I try mead about once a year. I still just dont like it. So sweet.

Bottle from Bruisin ales - aroma is very big, alcohol, lime, salt, deffinately a margarita on the nose. Pours a clear gold. Taste is sweet with the spiciness from the alcohol. Palate is thin, but lingers. I like that you can’t taste the alcohol, though you can smell it. I like it!

Bottle from Magsinva. My first ever mead. Smells just like a margarita. Pours the color of honey, duh. Very smooth on the tongue. Slight notes of lime as well. Pretty easy drinker until the alcohol burn on the back of throat.

Pours clear golden. Aromas of riesling, almost ice-wine although not quite that sweet. Really nice with no noticeable alcohol presence. My first mead rating and a good start, I think.
