COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Made with dark and light agave nectar, orange blossom honey, fresh lime juice, lime zest, and orange zest. This mead was inspired by the popular tequila beverage. This is a variation on a recipe that’s been floating around our homebrewing club (F.O.R.D.) for years.

Pour out of 375 mL bottle, thanks Aaron! Clear yellow pour with no head, aroma has notes of lime, some slight coriander, hints of earth, slight tequila notes, hints of honey, slight vanilla. Taste is a nice mix of lime, honey, slight spice, hints of tequila, slight vanilla, finishing fairly sweet, slightly boozy and dry.

Bottle shared with Keith and Simon, pours clearish golden color. As soon as you sniff this mead, you recognize the grapey orange blossom honey. Also get some florals, but not much agave or margarita flavor like the kuhnhenn.

Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate honey, light lime, alcohol, and a hint of acetone. It pours a transparent dull gold with a few stray bubbles for a head. The flavor starts with moderate-heavy honey. The finish has a hint of lime and alcohol. It’s medium-full bodied with minimal carbonation and a slightly sticky mouthfeel.

[Bottle / 2009] Thanks, Jeff! Bright yellow-golden color, clear throughout with only a few small bubbles that rise to the top. Aroma has notes of warm honey, booze, mild grass, a small hint of lime, & a somewhat vague spiciness in the background. Tastes of boozy honey, both warm & sweet up front with a light lime-like presence & again, a hint of vague spice. Seems like cinnamon, though this isn’t brewed with cinnamon at all. Sticky, thick body. Overall, a nice mead, but it really doesn’t remind me of margaritas in any sort of way.

Bottle, shared with my wife who’s a big fan of margaritas. Pours a hazy light orange color, still. Aroma is a mix of honey and lime. Taste starts sweet and finishes pretty dry. Salty lime taste with a slight tartness in the finish. Odd aftertaste. An ok mead overall. My wife liked it more than me but still didn’t really love it.

375 ml bottle from a tasting. Pours a light golden color with zero head. The aroma and flavor are sweet honey, light agave, citrus zest, tequilla, lime. Still really sweet. Smell was more inviting than flavor.

Bottle. Pours with a very light haze, full yellow hue. Still, with some legs. Aromas are of honey, waxy, baked apple, very floral and medium sweet, lime zest and sweetened orange peel. Spicy and zesty. Margarita might be a reach in concept, but it smells good. Fruity. Flavors are very sweet for the concept, some agave, bitter, zesty, floral, honey, waxy. Medium juicy, spicy, waxy. Lots of tannin or other bitterness, light lime, floral orange blossom. Full bodied, viscous, still, kind of an unsettled balance.

Bottle at the Colorado Mead Tasting ’12, courtesy of Aaron. Thanks Man! Pour is golden yellow with no head and good legs. Lemon, lime zest, a touch of honey, basil, and citrus in the aroma. Taste is lemon, sweet honey a touch of tequila, green apples, apricot, and pears with a dry, lingering finish. Sticky mouthfeel with no carbonation. Not bad.

2012 Colorado Mead Tasting at Armin’s house. Pours a light yellow, clear appearance with no head. Sweet and spicy lime, margarita mix, juicy orange citrusy aroma. Tangy, sweet lime, juicy margarita, quite sweet flavor with a bit more dryness on the finish. Strange but fun to try.
