Many years ago, a mysterious book was discovered by a group of friends in a Ferndale, MI basement. A translation of its contents revealed the recipe for an ancient beverage using mango juice, honey, and black pepper. What they didn’t realize was that creating the beverage had dire consequences. Stricken by fear after its compleation, the friends tried to contain the terrifying forces into this very bottle. Once opened, however, no one can say for sure if it can be conquered. Picked up at Julio’s, shared with JLindros. Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice crystal clear super pale. Aromas of huge mangoes, both fresh and gummy. Great peppercorns as well. Taste is similar to the nose, excellent mango flavour and light peppercorn, wish it was a bit more peppercorn forward. Loads upon loads of mango! Mouth is a bit thin.

bottle at home. Pours clear light golden, no head, but a champagne alike fine bubble carbonation. Pepper definitely present. Papaya and apricot, some mango as well. Light sweet body, like an Asti, with an imminent attack of the black pepper, which I wasn’t particularly found of... Taste is sweet white wine grapes, white pepper...

Medium light Floral smell with light pepper... very clear appearance... Taste is bolder/more pronounced than it looks and smells...pepper and flowers very good...not too sweet like other meads...perfect actually...so smooth...the only area it is deficient is appearance because it is so clear...nothing against it though...amazing

Aroma of flowers, mango and citrus. Pale, clear with almost no head. Let’s of honey flavour. Light bodied, thin with a pretty long after taste of black pepper. This is a weirdly satisfying beer.

Bottle at Erzbierschof Monday Club. Very light yellow. Aroma of pepper, rose, jasmine, and lots of mango. Very harmonic and round. Quite powerful and full-bodied for such a low ABV. Impressive!

Rated on 8-06-2015 (Bottle) The appearance is a very small white head, transparent body and fast rising carbonation. The aroma is sweet, mango, honey, earthy, and musty. The flavor is sweet, honey and earthy. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this mead is light bodied. The taste of this mead does not suit my palate very well. A bit too sweet and not to my palate’s liking.

Keg at Ushers. Pours very pale, light white wine. Nose is sweet, apples, fruits, honey, quite cider-like. Taste is also sweet but smooth fizziness and kind of tartness makes if very balanced, mango is also there and black pepper in long finish. Very positive surprise.
