Many years ago, a mysterious book was discovered by a group of friends in a Ferndale, MI basement. A translation of its contents revealed the recipe for an ancient beverage using mango juice, honey, and black pepper. What they didn’t realize was that creating the beverage had dire consequences. Stricken by fear after its compleation, the friends tried to contain the terrifying forces into this very bottle. Once opened, however, no one can say for sure if it can be conquered. Smells like sugary mango almost candy like. It has a tropical mango taste. With a creamy middle feel. With a slight peppery finish and a little carbonation on the tongue. Definitely different.

Rated on 8-06-2015 (Bottle) The appearance is a very small white head, transparent body and fast rising carbonation. The aroma is sweet, mango, honey, earthy, and musty. The flavor is sweet, honey and earthy. The mouthfeel is light carbonation and this mead is light bodied. The taste of this mead does not suit my palate very well. A bit too sweet and not to my palate’s liking.

Keg at Ushers. Pours very pale, light white wine. Nose is sweet, apples, fruits, honey, quite cider-like. Taste is also sweet but smooth fizziness and kind of tartness makes if very balanced, mango is also there and black pepper in long finish. Very positive surprise.

In Stockholm, shared with Mathieu87. APPEARANCE: clear blond, small unstable white head. NOSE: peppers... TASTE: peppers, fruity, pleasant in a way, but the pepper ruins it for me though.

Smell is sugar, koolaid, honey, and some other scent that is probably faint mango. Taste is honey, licorice, apple juice, a slight bit of tropical fruit, and maybe some extremely faint pepper taste. Light watery body.

Tap at Fermentoren, Århus. Pale yellow body. Sweet and fruity honey aroma. Sweet taste with fruity acidity. Spicy peppery flavour. Medium body with soft carbonation. Peppery finish. A rather unusual mead for me, but tasty nonetheless. It is lighter and more drinkable than most Danish meads, and also the first carbonated mead I have tried.

Sample at All In Beer Fest. Looks like white wine, no head. Fruity aroma. Fruity sweet cider taste, no carbonation. Very light and refreshing.

Sampled at AIBF 2015. From tap, clear gold with no head. Aroma with massive fruit notes, some honey and grass. Taste is semi dry with a fruity touch followed by a sharp strain that intensifies. Little too much of the pepper for me, otherwise a nice mead.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2016 On tap at All In Beer Fest. Smell of honey, flowers and perfume. Sweet fruity taste with flowers honey, cellar and mint. Nice and refreshing. Re-rated after trying it on bottle. I get both black pepper and mango this time. It finishes with a peppery heat. I still get mint though.
