Many years ago, a mysterious book was discovered by a group of friends in a Ferndale, MI basement. A translation of its contents revealed the recipe for an ancient beverage using mango juice, honey, and black pepper. What they didn’t realize was that creating the beverage had dire consequences. Stricken by fear after its compleation, the friends tried to contain the terrifying forces into this very bottle. Once opened, however, no one can say for sure if it can be conquered. Smells like sugary mango almost candy like. It has a tropical mango taste. With a creamy middle feel. With a slight peppery finish and a little carbonation on the tongue. Definitely different.

Botella . @Señor Lúpulo. Despacho de cervezas, Frikicata Gijón 27/06/2015. Color dorado claro transparente, parece un vino blanco, aromas a especies sabor dulce con un final picante, cuerpo ligero.

On tap and a little fizzy so first I thought this was beer. Quite odd for a mead. Clear lighter than pale, like whiter cider in looks. Sweet almost mint candy aroma. No head. Interesting tart candy thang with a tad of metal. Mix that with mild tiny twist of slightly rotten fermented fruit. Very good stuff, I think it even has a wild beer feel to it. Yes, a better brew experience. Wow, hides the alky rather well.

500 mL bottle. Pours a clear pale golden. Slightly sweet mild plasticky and honey aroma. White grape flavor with a bit of tropical fruit and a bit of plasticky flavor. Plastic diminishes as it warms, and it gets sweeter and more fruity, adding in an herbal note. I think I get a suggestion of the black pepper, but it’s really just a sensation in my throat after the finish. Pretty tasty, though.

Bottle, don’t remember where I got it from. Mostly clear light green/gold color, very bubbly. Surprisingly refreshing rather than sickeningly sweet. I get a little of the pepper on the back end but don’t really necessarily get the mango in it. Just tastes like a generic fruit.

This bottled Mead from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of frothy large sized clear colored bubbles that were very quickly diminishing and left behind a very softly carbonated transparent weak yellow colored body and no lacing. . The semi-flat mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of sweet mild spice and herbal. Not one that I would likely drink again.

Sampled at esbls pinball. Very clear and light champagne color. I get some honey but more sweetness. Tropical juice includes mangoes. Pepper? Not so much.
