Many years ago, a mysterious book was discovered by a group of friends in a Ferndale, MI basement. A translation of its contents revealed the recipe for an ancient beverage using mango juice, honey, and black pepper. What they didn’t realize was that creating the beverage had dire consequences. Stricken by fear after its compleation, the friends tried to contain the terrifying forces into this very bottle. Once opened, however, no one can say for sure if it can be conquered. Very clean and light pour with a tint of yellow. Wonderful nose, very clean and fruity notes with a nice ethereal honey note on the finish. Peppery notes help to avoid a cloying nature. Crisp and lightly spicy in the flavor, soft fruit and mango notes with a light honey background. Medium body with a crisp carbonation and peppery finish.

Like chile on mangos. Awesome. Light honey tinge, finishes with light sweetness. Awesome. I should drink more mead. On tap at DC Beer Festival.

Clear yellow-gold pour with a small, fizzy head, that fades quickly but is sustained somewhat by high effervescence. Aroma is mostly pepper, but there’s some definite mango sweetness and a hint of earth. Flavor is a little fruitier, mango up front, then sweet, fruity honey, then nice peppercorn, toast, a little stone fruit and increasing mango presence toward the finish. Light to medium body, juicy slightly sweet throughout, with a light, but blanketing and slightly sharp carbonation. Good stuff overall, I like the flavorings, but it could use a little more honey character.

[Bottle (500ml)] Pours a clear very pale gold with no head. Mild but pleasant aroma of apples and pepper along with honey and fruit. Flavour of honey first followed by mild pepper and some fruit -- simple but nice. Average bodied. Good and enjoyable.

My first "mead" to rate/review. I poured it into a wine glass. The appearance was a super light yellow color and I could see clear through the other side. Bubbles cling to the sides of the glass. There is some light carbonation in the center rising at a moderate pace. The smell had the honey and black pepper up in front. The taste was combined adequately between the honey and black pepper. On the palate, it sat closer to a lighter bodied alcoholic drink. I would say there’s a fairly good sessionable quality to this and the carbonation seems close to a "wine styled" alcoholic drink. It comes across fairly smooth on the tongue and mouth. Overall, though I don’t drink wine period, this alcoholic drink is intriguing enough to come back to, and maybe even put it with some food though I have no clue what to pair this with other than my beer experiences might say, perhaps some grilled halibut steaks, tuna or salmon.

clear slight yellow, traces of froth, light fruit aroma, butter, sweet honey, maybe a bit of citrus. Same in taste, pepper on the finish.Kinda like a cider but milder. Body on it feels fulish so that’s pretty good for 6%abv.Pleasant but almost just like a cider but with delicate less sweet flavors.

On tap at Milwaukee Brew Fest 2013. Pour is clear golden yellow with no head. Aroma and flavor of vines, honey, mango, and tropical fruit. Finish has the notes of black pepper coming through.

3rd Noble Beer Sangha: From bottle, thanks to Brian, pours golden, orange with no head. Mild sweet, fruity aroma. Flavor is honey, vaguely fruit (not mango, or tropical really) with distinct white pepper flavor running in tandem, with welcome slight warming finish. Medium body, somewhat oily soft texture. Intriguing but not hugely complex.

Clear pour and almost looks like water. No head. Sweet aroma full of mango. Taste is really light. Flowers and mango dominate. Mouth is super light. I found that this just didn’t have a ton of flavor.
