Light body. Nice smooth mouthfeel. Flavor is sweet, malty and it has a very slightly bitter aftertaste. I thought the name fits.

Cask in Elm tree. Light caramel malty aroma. Dark with minimal brown head. Nice drinkable medium sweet with ligjt dry hoppy end. Nice ling smooth end. Good beer

On cask as Shefford Dark Mild at Cloisters. Pours a dark brown colour with a thick tan head. Aroma is dominated by caramel with chocolate and roasty malt also. Similar flavours with moderate carbonation and a yeasty linger.

Cask at the Harp. Dark brown pour with a modest, off-white head. Strong roasted malt character in the nose. Flavor is lightly sweet with lots of dry, roasty malts. Light bodied with fine carbonation. In the finish some leafy bitterness and ash, mild sugar. Good stuff.

Cask conditioned at The Turf Tavern, Oxford. Reddy dark brown with no head. Sweet, malty mild, few characteristics to get hold of, but nothing off putting either, just mild. Neither here nor there.

6 Simple sweet malty aroma
4 Deep red, tiny head.
6 Minerally, like the Shefford Bitter was, could be the local water.
3 Soft palate, carbonation low. Drying finish. Late finish liquorice and treacle.
12 Minerally dominated again, alas.

Clear light to medium to dark amber yellow orange color with a small to average to large, frothy - fizzy, good - fair lacing, mostly lasting - diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, light to moderate hoppy, citrus. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery to oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20090807]

April 2008. Very mild mild! A trace of fruit in the malt and a little minerals in the slightly bitter finish.
