50cl bottle, labeled "Schwarzbier" at 3.8 % abv. Bottle is dark brown, not red. Pours a dark, almost opaque brown with a big brown head that collapses quickly but leaves plenty of lacing. Aroma is of sweet cocoa and nuts. Medium-bodied Schwarzbier, creamier in mouth feel than others (Krusovice), low carbonation even from the bottle. Rather sweet initial flavour of sweet caramel and marmalade, with plenty of malt, but the finish is bitter and dry. Coffee-ish after taste. This is a good session Schwarzbier, sweeter than Krusovice, closer to e.g. Köstritzer. A little more complex and, despite the low abv, heavier in style than most other Schwarzbiers.

Bottled as the Schwarzbier. Almost black in colour with a hint of red and no head. Sweet caramel and prune aroma. Flavour was similarly sweet, with lots of caramel and not much more. One dimensional.

50cl Bottle from Aktiv Markt Trier, as Schwarzbier, ABV 3.8%. Clear deep dark reddish brown to black colour, beige head. Aroma of some salty smoke, hard roasted malts and some liquorice and a sweets, very nice. Flavour is quite light considering the aroma, with roasted malts, light smoky notes, hard roasted caramel, artificial sweetener, coffee and roast in the light bitter finish. It’s a bit watery at times. Light to medium bodied. Good low ABV beer.

Bottled. Deep rubyish brown colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is nutty, a bit sugary, mild burnt notes as well. Flavour is quite sugary sweet along with mild wood and caramel malts. Rather sweet, and also a semi-sticky palate.
