4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 Trappistenbier (44) - BELGIUM - JAN 17, 2009
The BAB 401 I tasted last week here at Cambrinus was way better than the one I tasted from draught at the Second Bruges Beer Festival.
I’m very well surprised with this bottled BAB 401. excellent brewing by Marc Strubbe. And... a great choice from the BAB people!
BAB 401 has become a delicious 8.0 vol% hoppy Tripel. 3 Kinds of different hop varieties were used, which gave the beer that pleasant flowery, hoppy bitter, experience.
Folks, this is a tripel like it should taste. Crispy, hoppy, somewhat sweetish, not too dry, full bodied, pleasant soft without too much carbonation tingling.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20 tderoeck (1179) - BELGIUM - JUL 28, 2011
21/07/2011 75cl bottle @ home - BB: 2012 (2011-342)
Pretty cloudy yellow to light orange beer, creamy white head, solid and bit adhesive. Aroma: candi sugar, spicy hops, cookies, orange zest. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: fruity start, bitter hops, oranges, some fruits, sugar, citrus. Aftertaste: little citrus, zest, candi sugar, oranges again. Looks like the beer is starting to age, but it’s still holding. Probably much less hoppy than it used to be.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 CaptainCougar (6746) - Boz Scaggsville, Maryland, USA - APR 21, 2010
Bottle sampled on 9/3/09: Pours a deep golden bronze with a small clingy-lacing froth of white head. Aroma of sweet biscuity pale malt and lots of light fruity esters. Starts with good biscuity light malty sweetness and fruity notes with some clove spice and mild earthy hop bitterness before a slightly drier, bittersweet finish. Smooth and true to style.
3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 diabel (1506) - Aarschot, BELGIUM - MAR 13, 2009
Botte Blond, bit hazy body. White, creamy head. Excellent lace. Aroma of hops, flowers, citrus, vanilla, honey. Nice and well balanced aroma. Moderately bitter flavour (citrus, hops).
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 sayravai (4518) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 13, 2009
(Bottled) Hazy golden with a large, firm and lacy head. Dry aroma of pale malt, with hints of acidity and grassy hops. Nicely dry, yet honey-malty flavor with a mildly acidic, grassy-hoppy finish. Smoother with yeast, with typical tripel fruitiness coming into picture. Hides the ABV completely. Medium body with balanced carbonation. The aroma was not that inviting, but I liked the dry and solid-malty flavor, and reasonable grassy hop bitterness.

Bottle at Brugs Beertje. Golden coloured pour with a great off white head. Malty/citrus fruit aroma. Tastes malty, dry, citrus fruit. A warming satisfying triple that is quite hard to find.
