2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 nate2g (1548) - Marlborough, - APR 12, 2010
Bottle. Murky amber with a medium head. Nose is honey, earth and crazily yeasty. The flavour is honey malt and funky yeast. Either it’s an old bottle or perhaps fermentation issues but it just isn’t right on any level. Very sweet finish.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Rastacouere (5919) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 17, 2008
Hazy honey coloured. Honest white ring. DMS laden aroma. Vegetal dominance hides the honey far underneath. Cabbagey, sweet corn notes running rampant. Chaotic cereals. Not as attenuated as most honey ales. Bready tartness from the yeast. Hopless. Not pleasant.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Scauca (490) - Lovere, ITALY - DEC 8, 2007
Nice golden with very lasting creamy head. Scent of honey, flowers, but very yeasty.

My Bottom Line:
Yeast phenols crowd the honeyed sweetness, as earthy tones and fruity tartness attempt complexity. This bottle-conditioned example was probably not as clean as it should have been.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam tops the cloudy golden.
-There was probably too much yeast in the bottle to not affect the flavor profile much.
-This yeast seems to be of the weizen variety, as its phenols and esters recall cloves and plantanes.
-A light vegetal character (DMS?) emanates from the ubiquitous yeast.
-A cleaner bottle, with less yeast presence, would surely have made the honeyed sweetness more present.
Bottle at Flaveurs Bières et Caprices festival.

Draught at Artebirra 2006 Honey is strong in the aroma (quite good) and a bit more subdued in the mouth, with a bittersweet finish
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dorqui (1552) - Brescia, ITALY - JUL 7, 2006
UPDATED: SEP 13, 2007 Draught at the brewpub.
Honey beer.
Compact and of good fulness head, optimal resistance. Beautiful golden color, light hazy and with a good and fine fizz. Amazing and most pleasant scent: immediate notes of honey, pear (lightly) and hop. Much flowery and perfumed with a small bitter tip. Lively taste but not excessive prickly. In mouth it’s sweet and soft with determined and balanced notes of honey and sugar contrasted from a modest bitter train on the end. Light perceivable alcohol. Optimal experiment.
