COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Van Honsebrouck is a family owned brewery in West Flanders Belgium. It makes a range if beers including Bacchus, a beer in the local style of the region. It is on this beer that the kriek and framboise is based, a premium fruit beer for which Belgium is well known. Hand wrapped and presented in half champagne bottles. This is a remarkable beer.

Nice fruity beer. Actually not a big fan of them, but this one goes down nicely. Although i liked the cherry version even more from Bacchus.

Raspberry beer based on old brown (reminiscent of the former Liefmans Frambozenbier), since 2010. Cream coloured, tanned head on a dark ruby brown beer; aroma strongly raspberry jam but also an impression of a real raspberry bush, some chocolate, balsamic vinegar, passion fruit, sherry and lemonade. Taste softly sourish combined with sweet, typical ’oud bruin’, some artificial sweetness (probably as an addition since raspberries as such are not cheap), raspberry clear enough and rather dominant, smooth, refreshing sourish finish. Okay and any attempt to make fruit beers based on the slowly vanishing style of old brown are welcome to me.

Bottle, 37.5cL. Home. A sparkling dark red garnet-colored beer with a medium light pink head. Medium persistence. Raspberry-candy aroma. Medium to heavy sugary sweet. Medium body, syrupy texture, average to soft carbonation, sweet finish. Overall, disappointed : more like a candy or a syrup.

375ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - dark plum with a thin lace head. Nose - dark almost stewed raspberries. Taste - raspberries and a cherry lozenge thing too. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy texture and a long dry and sour finish. Overall - I’d never really considered this but a fruit beer does have that almostunique characteristic of bitterness from the hops and sourness from the fruit and this combination is so thirst quenching.

375ml bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours clear red brown, thin pink head. Aromas are more sour cherry than raspberry, creamy note, taste has a saccharine sweetness, more red fruit. Sweet finish. Ok.

Somewhat opaque dark brown with off-white foam head. Aroma an taste is raspberry dominated, not a big surprise given the name. Nice beer and quite fresh. (Amsterdam 201404)

Rouge brunâtre, effervescence moyenne, col rose moyen et crémeux. Un rien boisée, trop sucrée, plus d’arômes que de fruits (12,5%), quasi pas de lambic. Est-ce vraiment une Framboises?
