COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Van Honsebrouck is a family owned brewery in West Flanders Belgium. It makes a range if beers including Bacchus, a beer in the local style of the region. It is on this beer that the kriek and framboise is based, a premium fruit beer for which Belgium is well known. Hand wrapped and presented in half champagne bottles. This is a remarkable beer.

Bottle at a tasting at the White Horse. Red brown colour with big creamy pinky beige head. Aroma is cherry drops, almond. Taste cherry and touch of sourness. But quite sugary. Nice and smooth and perfectly drinkable but would rather have something more interesting.

Rosy-port notes with an off-white head with a slight pinkish tinge. Good aromas of brown sour ale and rich sour cherries. Sweet, untcuous and cooling with a good tingly mouthfeel. Rich dessert beer with a lingering finish. Could be a bit heavy going for one person to drink a whole bottle, but worth sharing with friends as I did on this occasion.

From backlog

Head: white, creamy
Colour: deep red brownish colour
Smell+taste: not gonna spill my time ... similar to the Bacchus Frambozenbier , just artificial and sweet ... yuck ...

Interesting beer overall, the bottle itself is well presented with the wrapping paper and half champagne bottle. Had this in a goblet like wine glass. As for the contents itself, it is dark red/brown coloured with a disc thin white head. Nose of cherries, fruits, light malt. Taste of sour cherry, a light bodied beer. Finish was sour, quite dry.

Clear redy body ith a slightly off-white-red head. Aroma or red candy. Heavily sweet, lightly bitter flavour. Way too sweet.

A nice reddy pink colour with huge pink frothy head. Nice cherry aroma with light malts. Flavour was a nice mix of sour and sweet and the finish was nice and tart.

Reddish brown beer, off-white head. Aroma of sweet cherries, light malts, light marzipan. Flavour quite sweet, cherries, lightly sour. Light sweet and sour finish. Quite OK, much better than the Bacchus Framboise imho.
(Draught @ local pub in Turnhout)

Pours a nice red with fruity aroma. taste is sour cherries, nicely balanced, but gets quite sickly after half a bottle. Interesting, but flawed in my opinion.
