Van Honsebrouck is a family owned brewery in West Flanders Belgium. It makes a range if beers including Bacchus, a beer in the local style of the region. It is on this beer that the kriek and framboise is based, a premium fruit beer for which Belgium is well known. Hand wrapped and presented in half champagne bottles. This is a remarkable beer.

Much darker on the pour and also a little drier and heavier on the palate than the other krieks I have tried. A little more "winey" than the others as well with a kerosene character

375ml green glass bottle with a paper wrapped label pours a dark ruby red color with a finger of light pinkish head that leaves a few spots of lacing on the glass. Aroma is dominated by cherries with some hints of yeast and grains. Taste is a cherry fruit and malty sweetness with a light cherry tartness and dry yeasty finish. Light bodied with abundant carbonation. Overall, a little sweeter than I like in a fruit beer, but still a nicely crafted and tasty brew.

the aroma is fruity with hints of toffee, cherry, plum and flowers... the taste is fruity and, a little bit, spicy, with notes of cherry, plum and sour apple... the aftertaste is sweet, sour and dry...

A 375ml wrapped bottle with a best before date of 22nd May 2016 and poured into an oversized wine glass. The beer poured a clear deep ruby colour with a one finger very light pink head that dissipated slowly ending in patches of foam and nice lacing. Mainly sweet cherry and raspberry aromas. Basically candy berry smells. Tastes are sweet tart cherry, a little bit artificial but getting to the cough syrup flavours that I like so much. Medium bodied with light to medium carbonation. Overall, this was nice, although maybe a little on the sweet side.

375 ml bottle pours a deep ruby reddy brown. Lots of pink head, which lasts pretty well and loads of lacing. Nose is cherries with a bit if almond and belgie yeast. Taste is all cherries/cherry syrup. Really concentrated ott cherry flavour. Nice sour finish balances things a touch. Fairly high carbonation and a good, full mouthfeel, but its a bit syrupy and cloying.

Robe brune, reflets rouges. Nez assez monolithique sur la cerise. Bouche assez simple, du fruit, de la fraîcheur et de l’amertume, équilibrée mais loin en dessous d’une Oude Kriek.
