Van Honsebrouck is a family owned brewery in West Flanders Belgium. It makes a range if beers including Bacchus, a beer in the local style of the region. It is on this beer that the kriek and framboise is based, a premium fruit beer for which Belgium is well known. Hand wrapped and presented in half champagne bottles. This is a remarkable beer.

Hint of metal in the aroma, lots of cherry and berry. Lovely colour. Teensy bit of hops. Smell of crisp, sweet malt.
The flavours are quite sweet, and very full of cherry! Flavours remind me of a lot of other fruit also.
Clean and refreshing, but possibly too sweet. Some nice tangy acidity in there also, I like it.

Bottle from morrisons. Ruby red colour with a thin white head. Aroma is mild cherry taste also. No real sour just fruity.

A 375ml wrapped bottle with a best before date of 22nd May 2016 and poured into an oversized wine glass. The beer poured a clear deep ruby colour with a one finger very light pink head that dissipated slowly ending in patches of foam and nice lacing. Mainly sweet cherry and raspberry aromas. Basically candy berry smells. Tastes are sweet tart cherry, a little bit artificial but getting to the cough syrup flavours that I like so much. Medium bodied with light to medium carbonation. Overall, this was nice, although maybe a little on the sweet side.

375 ml bottle pours a deep ruby reddy brown. Lots of pink head, which lasts pretty well and loads of lacing. Nose is cherries with a bit if almond and belgie yeast. Taste is all cherries/cherry syrup. Really concentrated ott cherry flavour. Nice sour finish balances things a touch. Fairly high carbonation and a good, full mouthfeel, but its a bit syrupy and cloying.

Robe brune, reflets rouges. Nez assez monolithique sur la cerise. Bouche assez simple, du fruit, de la fraîcheur et de l’amertume, équilibrée mais loin en dessous d’une Oude Kriek.

375ml bottle from Tesco, Prague. Dark amber, slightly off-white head that stays a long time, leaves lots of lacing. Sweet aroma, cherry, cranberry juice, strawberry jam. Sticky mouthfeel, pretty high carbonated, verry fizzy. The taste starts with sweet syrup and jam, strawberries, raspberries, cherries also the taste of sweeteners, then finish tart, lemon, lime. More sweet than sour.

There?s a strong cherry flavour with the colour to much. Although a very pleasant beer.

Bit surprise to see this one in sour red/brown category. To me its more like fruit beer. Huge syrupy cherries but feels ultra light tart, decent maltiness. Mostly sweet with light tartness, quite dry finish. Cherry kinda overpowers other aspects of this beer. Not bad, but quite not interesting

375 ml. bottle, shared. Dark brown colour with a reddish tinge. Creamy, light pink head. Sweet aroma with almond, cherries, caramel malts, light tart notes. Taste is sweet. Medium body with a creamy texture and a lively carbonation. Finishes sweet with almond and cherries. Too sweet for a sour, otherwise pleasant.
