Bottle sampled at the Mead Mountain tasting on 1/8/11. Clear yellow/white in color. Aroma of honey, dry white wine cherry and some floral essence. Flavor is tart lemon, white wine and a cherry finish. Very dry, which I wasn’t expecting. Dry meads aren’t my faves, but this was pretty well done.

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2011 Sample at the Mead Molehill tasting on 01/10/2011. Clear pale yellow-gold color with no head or lacing evident. Citrusy and floral aroma. Medium, dry body with flavors of tart fruit, flowers and spice. The finish is short and fruity. Decent overall.

Corked bottle poured a clear pale gold with no head (still). Aromas of honey, pepper, light floral notes and a hint of cherry. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry watery finish. Flavors of citrus, light honey and a faint hint of cherry with a smooth dry watery finish.

Bottle. No head. Body is very light yellow. Aroma is notes of fusel alcohol (paint thinner, etc.), chemicals, lemon zest, light note of honey, hint of cherry perhaps. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, unclean. Light body, watery texture, no carbonation, lightly alcoholic, moderately astringent. The aroma is little more than a chemical bath...honestly, one of the worst meads I’ve nosed, and I’ve nosed quite a few. Easily the worst of the Bacchus products I’ve tried thus far. If you’re looking for a juicy, succulent, cherry-accented honey wine for your honey on Valentine’s Day (or any other time), this is the last thing you should think of (assuming you actually like him/her, of course).
