COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A typical Flemish beer with a pleasant wine-like taste and a rich past. This dark brown beer, which is matured in oak casks, has a slightly acid aftertaste.

375 ml. bottle. Pours a reddish brown with a decent biege head. Aroma of sour fruit, florals, yeast, and malt. Taste is sour cherries, vinegar, yeast, and oak. Interesting balance of sweet and tart.

Bottle. Brown with a small head. Aroma is white wine, cherries, green apples and marginally also raspberries, subtle malt and cork. Sour, slightly sweetish taste - the sour side is not sharp, so the little sweetness suffices to balance the whole. Very crisp, vinous taste that goes well with the rather high carbonation and finishes moderately dry, sour, marginally bitter and leaves a vinous aftertaste of apples and cherries. Great sour!

Pleasant and refreshing. Pours dark brown. Aromas of green apple, tamarind. Taste is tart. Lots of flavour for a low alcohol drink.

This was ok. Had it out of the bottle after cellaring for about a year. Next to no head. Dark brown with deep ruby when held up to the light. Aroma is faint, but there is some there is a sour apple note and some sweetness. The taste is similar to the smell; sour apple, lime, and some malt sweetness to balance.

From backlog

Head: white, creamy, away fast
Colour: redish brown
Smell: sour, fruity, malts
Taste: mild sourness but with a fruity flavour, somewhat oaky , bit dry , reminds me of a rodenbach but with less character

I tried this beer on October 4, 2011 after purchasing from the Queen’s Quay LCBO outlet. The beer poured a murky brown colour with translucent edges and a thing tan cap. The aroma was tart cherries and vinegar. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium high carbonation. The flavour was tart cherries up front, some sweetness in between, and a very sour finish.

Bottle. Moderate malt and hop notes of grain, flowers and perfume, faint mustiness for the yeast, with cherry, berry, red wine and wood in the background. Head is small, fizzy, beige with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is a brownish burgandy. Flavor starts lightly sweet , moderately to heavily acidic and sour. then the short finish is heavily acidic, lightly bitter and a bit salty. Palate is light to medium, watery with a carbonation between lively and fizzy, and a clean and crisp finish. Nice berry aromas coupled with a tart flavor with minimal bitterness. I’m assuming this is a Sour Ale with traing wheels, because I liked it.

Paper-wrapped green bottle from the LCBO. Pours a copper colour with ruby highlights. Its head is beige, creamy, big, long-lasting and the lacing it leaves behind is pretty thick. Mild balsamic vinegar scent with notes of fruits (cherries, apples) and sweet butterscotch in the background (after breathing a while). Tons of tiny-tiny bubbles float to the top, making it very carbonated. Wet mouthfeel and medium-thin bodied. The taste is pretty light, almost watered-down. Slight sourness at first, but dissipates quickly into a very calm cherry/apple finish. A small amount of wood comes out in the aftertaste. Looks good, smells good, but does not deliver in other departments. A decent introduction to Old Browns for those who have never tasted them.

Good looking beer that pours a deep brown colour with a small white head. Taste is medium sour. A bit fizzy on the tongue. Almost like drinking modified wine or sangria. Not exactly my cup of tea, but "A" for effort.
