3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rating #2144 - 2015.11.02 - Tasting @colordevino_yeg with @49thParallelYEG -Hazy reddish brown pour, medium white head. Aroma is super bretty, lots of yeast on the nose - some oaky notes, sour cherries, wildflowers, honey, soapyness. Mouthfeel is clean, medium carbonation. Quite complex, the sourness is tempered with a fair amount of body, and lots of tart cherry. A fantastic Flanders-style beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Robe brune, mousse peu persistante.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
August 31, 2016. Bottle,
Deep red with a medium sized off-white head. Aroma is sour, sweet fruity and vinous with sweet cherries, grapes, toffee, notes of raspberries, vinegar and oak.
Taste is light to medium sweet, soft sour. Finish is quite short and a bit watery, light fruity sour cherry notes, some lemon, a touch of berry sweetness, hints of wood and vinegar. Light to medium bodied, a bit watery feel, average carbonation.
Alright, a bit bland.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
- braun-schwarze Farbe mit leichter Schaumbildung
- Aromen nach Zitrone, Pflaume, Holz und etwas Honig
- sehr prickelnde Carbonisierung

Bottle shared. I totally love the style and this is a pretty good example, nicely smooth and balanced with plenty of flavors for the friendly abv. Classic!

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Restrained, but complex aroma in a transparent red-black pour. Immensely appealing tart sour balance that matches or surpasses many of the trendy sours (from SF in particular). And at close to half the strength? That is a huge plus with me - hence the high rating.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
0.375 l bottle from Uba ja humal, Tallin. Appearance is dark brown with a white head. Aroma has chewing gum with fruits.Taste is slightly sour but mainly sweetish. Not as sour as some of the other beers of this style. Might be easier for beginners to start with this one.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
375ml bottle from Beers of Europe. Clear dark reddy brown colour with a thin off-white head. Aroma: fruity - berries, dried fruits, sugar, caramel malt. Taste: tart, sour fruit, berries, sugar, caramel. No bitterness, but good sweet and sour flavours. Not my thing though to be honest.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
375 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear deep ruby red/brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of lightly tart cherry, berry, raisin, plum, red grape, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, light nuttiness, oak, hay, straw, herbal, light funk, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/earthy yeast, oak, and dark/bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of lightly tart cherry, berry, raisin, plum, red grape, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, light nuttiness, oak, hay, straw, herbal, light funk, and yeast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/acidic tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of cherry, berry, raisin, plum, red grape, apple, caramel, brown sugar, toasted bread, oak, hay, straw, herbal, and yeast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, oak, and dark/bready malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness fro macidity as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth and lightly creamy/acidic/tannic balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a very good Flanders brown ale. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy yeast, oak, and dark/bready malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. A bit tame on complexity, but still showcases nice classic style character overall. A very enjoyable offering.
