COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A typical Flemish beer with a pleasant wine-like taste and a rich past. This dark brown beer, which is matured in oak casks, has a slightly acid aftertaste.

Clear red brown beer (like cola), yellowish to beige creamy head. Pretty stable and adhesive. Aroma: yoghurt and butter milk, red fruits, little sweet touch. MF: good carbon, medium body. Taste: freshly sour start, fruity (strawberries and raspberries), bit of a sweet touch. Aftertaste: some yoghurt, fruity, pleasant tart finish.

Rosso mattone, velata. Schiuma abbondante, ma evanescente. Profumi fruttati di ciliegia, vaniglia, e sentori floreali. Nel palato líaciditŗ sovrasta la dolcezza e i toni retro olfattivi fruttati.

Tasted on tap. Pure sour cherry aroma with hints of rhubarb. Light tartness is perfectly balanced with the fruit flavors.

Pours dark dirt brown with tannish head. Hint of sour apples. Hits the tongue with sour brown and tannins with plenty of acidity. Finish is long and light.

I guess alot similiar in taste to the Rodenbach Classic, but i actually prefferd this one. More sour than sweet, well balanced, not too over the top, dark fruitiness, yeah, i dug it.

375ml green capped bottle. Bottled on 09.04.14. Pours into my tulip a deep purpleish red with hues of brown and a frothy light tan head that leaves a little lacing as it recedes. It smells of oak and cherry, a nice blend of the two. Under that is a bit of vinegar and sour but not really enough to make the nostrils tingle. This one has a really great flavor to me. One of the downfalls of this style is that it ends up being overly sweet, this one is the opposite. And it isnít very sour, but rather tart cherries. There is some oak in the flavor as well, and some nice complementary malts that add a bit of extra depth to the cherry. Initially there was some metallic aftertaste, but it quickly fades. The mouthfeel is nicely carbonated and very nice for the style. It isnít overly syrupy. This might be the best of this style that I have had, a solid beer. Pours a muddy brown. Rich full body. Cranberry like tartness. Less sweetness to balance the brew than in other flemish redís Iíve had. The true delight of this brew is in the finish. It isnít too tart or sweet, but mellows perfectly. Fantastic brew, that is a rival to the duchese to me..but a little more expensive at 6.99 a bottle.

Yellow-brown head, gone very fast; opaque dull red-brown beer. Superb nutty, lactic, woody and fruity nose, multitude of esters and acids and other superb organic compounds that build the greatness of Oud bruin. Flat beginning in the taste, then revived by lactic acid, the suspicion of acetic acid, woody impressions, and again hazelnut notes. A tad portwine or Madeira, but with a more sherry-like dryness. Medium bodied, very dry and dry-out effect, prickly, leaving one wondering where the first flat impression hailed from. "Bacchus" has always been one of my first favourites amongst Oud bruin. I cannot understand why it has become so hard to find, these days.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2005 Iv been getin soo into these flemish sour ales of recent times that i just feel as though every beer i taste should be like them. This is a great example and very similar to the Vichtenaar i had last week. Aroma is complex with red wine vinigar adding to pickled beetroot and some red wine too. Taste is great with not to much sweetness as a good thing. Alround such a great great beer that i could drink for days.
