Cuban Coffee Stout. Trade Day refers to the old Southern tradition of gathering at the crossroads to buy and sell goods of all kinds. These culturally diverse events still exist all over Alabama, and after half a century, it’s finally time to welcome our Cuban nieghbors back to the crossroads. Y’all bring the coffee, we’ll bring the beer.

Nice stout. Subdued aroma and light coffee flavor make this a unique addition to the stout lineup. A promising step forward from Back 40. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12fl.oz. bottle from 2015 Craft Beer Advent Calendar. Pours an opaque mahogany with a medium, short lived, brown head that leaves spotty lacing. Strong coffee aroma with roasted malt and dark chocolate. Sweet flavour of roasted malt and dark chocolate with a dry, bitter coffee finish. Medium body with a smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Nice.

Bottle. Big coffee and chocolate but super dry. I like it because it’s more stout than coffee and chocolate which is nice. Pours brown with a tan head. Palate is smooth but a little dirty on the finish. Overall a solid beer.

Tap. Pours deep, dark brown with creamy tan head. Aroma is roasted and chocolate malts, faint dark fruit notes, and some coffee. Flavor was a solid stout base with good malt character and subtle hops, but I wished there was more coffee presence given the name as it definitely got buried beneath other flavors. Medium body and carbonation.

Draft in the Back Forty tasting room. Poured black with a medium-sized tan head. Aroma was heavily roasted malt, some coffee and vanilla. Flavor was roasted malt, coffee, some coffee and roast malt bitterness, quite sweet. Thick palate. Was pretty tasty, but I don’t think I could drink a whole pint -- rather thick and syrupy. Happy I got to try it.
