3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Drank from snifter poured from a 12 oz bottle. Nice smoky flavor, but the palate is too bitter and the citrus notes build on the palate too quickly.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass.
This beer is a dark brown colored brew with a medium sized off-white colored head. The aroma is a distinct blend of malt, hops and cocoa. the taste is really good and is a fine example of an American Porter. The palate is a medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation.
Overall- A really good porter that is another example of a fine beer from Back Forty

Deep brown, red highlights, huge, frothy, dark tan head.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black pour from draft at Bills by the Beach in Gulf Shores. They had this under Fairhope, made it hard to find this. Super thick and creamy pour with a thick layer of creamy head. Taste is nuts and coca, break, and malts. Good beer overall.

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
12oz bottle, picked up 2/23/15 from Habersham in Savannah. Dark brown, slight red color. Mostly opaque. Thin tan head. Decent retention. Decent lace. Kind of metallic overall, mild oxidization is the first impression. Some toast, a lot of ash. Mildly astringent moderate bitter taste, light sweet, more dry finish. Medium body. Smooth, kind of crisp lighter carbonation, mildly full feel. From the description, looks like this is intended to be a hoppier porter -- "fresh hops", Iím reading now... Very mild citrus aroma here, just astringent bitterness. Try dating your bottles if you care about the end consumer, Back Forty. I have the feeling this could have been pretty great fresh. Was challenging to get through.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
12oz bottle for a new state tick thanks to Homer321. Poured just a little thin looking black body under a smaller cream like off white head. Aroma/flavor off bad dark fruit skins, nut shell, bad sweet chocolate. Blah, I guess this is why Skynard sings about the blue skies in Alabama and they donít mention the craft breweries.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted on 12/8/14 from a capped 12oz bottle purchased at Craft Brewed. Pours almost completely black, very intense for a standard porter, with an average tan head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is dark roast, some milk chocolate, and lightly sweet vanilla, a touch of coffee, and some very nice herbal and bright citrus hops. The flavor is all of the same mentioned in the nose with an added dusty bitter note. The body is medium with average carbonation and a long bitter lightly roasted and dusty hops finish. This is quite good.
