Bottle @ home, courtesy of fucken a brosmer, I believe. Thanks! Pours a dark brown appearance with a creamy, dark brown head. A fair amount of anise, roast, and dark chocolate in the nose along with some coffee notes. Somewhat bitter, dull herbal hoppy, dark bready, coffee flavor. Decent.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at the DBLDP on 09/02/2012: Dark reddish-brownish pour with a medium foamy light tan head that diminishes steadily. Short strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of roasted nuts, malt and a touch of hops. Light to medium body with a roasty and briny character with notes of dank malt and herbal hops. The finish is short and malty.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured up on tap at GABF 2012 with a nice looking mahogany body supporting a tan head of foam. The mild aroma offers up a little bit of dark roastiness as well as some earthy malt notes. The taste is smooth and mild and blended with dark roasted malts and slightly burnt malts but balanced out by some malt sweetness and malt earthiness and just a touch of mineral. Pretty cool balance for a standard Porter style.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, from my advent calendar, Day 2. Handsome deep clear mahogany hue with a finely carbonated tan head. Aroma is a nice meaty smokiness and raisin sweetness. Strangely, this barely translates to the palate, which is more dominated by sweet dark malts that deliver flavours of raisins and caramel, allowing a hint of smokiness before a dry bitter finish sets in, ending with some lemon peel. Quite nice actually, although I wished the smokiness was a tad more assertive.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
2/1/13. 12oz bottle from Grassroots. Brown amber pour, very light with plenty of reds under the light, under a small khaki head. I’m surprised at the color a bit. Sweet caramel and a touch of chocolate and roast on the aroma. Dry roasted malt flavor with coffee, a touch of cream and chocolate, and some caramel. The aroma is a bit lackluster, but the flavor is actually tasty. Not bad!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz. bottle from The Fresh Market in Daphne. Pours a deep brown with amber highlights and a very small beige head. Aroma of chocolate, dark fruits, rust, earth, and wet leaves. Flavor of chocolate, plum, earth, nuts, leaves, and a faint metallic note. Light bodied, with low carbonation and an earthy mouthfeel. Decent porter that could be better.
