Enjoyed at the brewery when we freed the bottle size! Nicely dark but clear reddish brown pour with a light head. It has a nice nutty meets roaty meets lightly hoppy aroma. A nice American porter flavor. Roasted grain dominates with little astringency filled in intensity with spicy floral hops. Medium body with a wet mouth feel and dry finish. Another nice one.

This is the best thing Back Forty has going for them. Its a nice overhopped porter that is not to hard to drink 1 for anyone, and drink 2 for an IPA lover as the hops builds on the tongue.

Draft at J. Clyde. Black with a tan top. Scent is roasted malt and coffee. Taste is the same with chocolate. Not as good as I had hoped and thin.

Draft from a cask. Basically black with a nice, thick, persistent light tan head. Aroma and flavor are heavily roasted malt, some coffee and chocolate, light fruity esters. A bit sweet up front; pretty dry in the finish. Very well balanced. Medium mouthfeel. Not as creamy as I would have expected from a cask. Served a bit too cold, if you ask me. But a fine beer. If not for the price, I’d drink this all evening. This is supposedly Back Forty’s first batch of beer that they’ve brewed themselves -- not contracted -- at their Gadsden brewery. Welcome to the neighborhood, boys!
