COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This amber colored pale ale will quench your thirst. It's smooth mild taste makes it Back Road Brewery's flagship beer. A generous dosing of fresh English hops nicely balances the beer's maltiness. A technique called dry hopping is used to add a fresh herbal like aroma. Drink and enjoy LaPorte's first hand crafted beer!!

Aroma of caramel and caramel taste. Does have a dry aftertaste but still a solid ale. from back road.

Poured one with a friend who said, "this smells like a caramel apple"! The caramel is the dominant feature, in fact the bottle is right here and even empty it is like a caramel apple. Green apple tanginess, too. A bit gritty at the end, as the Back Road brews seem to be. Dry and strange aftertaste isn't enough to take away from the nice caramel malt goodness throughout.

Aroma of caramel/ light chocolate. Malt is carmelly, but the finish is way out of balance.

Not sure how ’American’ this really is, and they seem to have taken the national title off the bottle, since mine was just called ’Back Road Ale’ and leans heavily toward an EPA. I’m guessing it’s the same brew Michael tried though, based on his deCascadified description. The beer has a funky herbal/shoe polish aroma that lends an odd edge to the decent malt.

Standard APA fare from LaPorte, IN. I always stock up on their beers in Mishawaka when I vist the pops. Hoppy, a little malt balance and fair body, appearance. Not a piney West coast hoppy, just good solid doses.
