3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle, courtesy of BBB63. Thanks, Mike! Pours a hazy, autumn-orange color; textured off-white head with perfect retention and lacing. Pleasant, yeast and white pepper aroma, almost like a tripel, with some oranges and candied fruit. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: fluffy texture, chewy belgian sugars and yeast, with plenty of oranges / candied fruit; somewhat sweet for a saison and underattenuated. Medium, doughy and candy sugar finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at Indiana Microbrewers Festival - Aroma is bubblegum yeast and a touch of lemon. Pours cloudy gold with a small head. Flavor is the bubblegum yeast with some white pepper and lemon. Palate is sour and smooth. Very drinkable and refreshing after an early afternoon of some heavyweight brews.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Ala BBB63. Lightly hazed golden color with a smaller white head. Aromas of dough and light spice. White pepper, dry herbs, lemongrass and touch of attic all in the mix. Light wheat sweetness mixes with mild light fruit. Lightly acidic to help keep it from getting too sweet. Finishes with light cloves and pepper. A nice domestic saison. Thanks Mike for sharing.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a 12oz bottle into a tulip. This saison poured a hazy golden/amber color with a mimimal white head that dissappeared almost immediately. The aroma was made up of apricot, strong yeast, some cinnamon, and also a bit of pepper. The flavor was a bit sweet and sour, with a nice peppery finish. I canít believe there werenít any spices used. You can really taste some clove, cinnamon, and pepper. The mouthfeel is medium to full-bodied, with a good hit of carbonation. Very crisp and refreshing. I didnít quite know what to think of this beer the first time I tried it at the 10th anniversary, but now it has really started to grow on me. Canít wait to see what lies ahead for Back Road Brewery.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Growler thanks to BBB63! Poured hazy medium orange with a short-lived white head. Aroma picked up sweet light fruity notes with heavy white pepper and cloves.. bit of an aged hop aspect to it (which Mike confirmed!). Peppery spices led the flavor department.. sweet apricots in there as well.. nice spicy finish. Very good balance to it, and the old hops worked wonders. Thanks Mike!

Growler via BBB63
As usual Mike is being an evangelist for a small town brewery of which word has yet to get out. If they happen to make it to the Great Taste of the Midwest Iíll definitely be stopping by their tent. If not, I may have to make a road trip and stop there in the near future. This is my second sample and again they did a good job. While it didnít blow me away it is very solid for a saison.
Aroma / Appearance - Peach, wheat and sourness create a distinct farmhouse aroma. Dense and fruity, it feels the senses with enough scents to warrant further inspection. The body is cloudy orange with lacing that clings to the sides in thin sheets.
Flavor / Palate - A dry sourness fills the palate on the first sip. It does not relent until the glass is empty but morphs into wheat and stale cherries. It is thick, chewy and very filling. I find this to a fun interpretation of the style and one that I wouldnít mind another sample of if it happens be available at the brewery whenever I stop by.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Growler via BBB63. The beer pours to a hazy peach caramel colored body with a thin white head. The aroma is heavy with lots of Turkish apricots, light spicy fruity hops, and pale malts. The flavor is Turkish apricots, sweet pale malts, spicy hops, nice fruity golden raisins. Very balanced. The palate is sweet and spicy and moderately bodied. Very creamy and velvety.
