Tap at brewery: Basically opaque with a small frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of coffee, roasted barley, black and chocolate malt, hint of fig and herbal hops, chalky earthy yeast esters. The taste has moderate sweet malts balanced by the coffee bitterness, a tad fruity and twangy as well. A roasty finish that is missing a hop kick. The mouth feel is very smooth but a touch thin and needs more oats IMO. Good but restrained stout, I just wished there was more of a head and mouth feel along with a touch more hop character but Chuck is stuck brewing what the recipe calls for.
