COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This Ale is known for it’s roasty flavor and sweet mouth feel. We use a generous amount of Munich and Crystal malts leading to a deep red hue which helps define this splendid Ale.

On tap at the Lader Ranch location. Not bad, but try their ER IPA. This pours reddish brown and is your typical amber. Nothing memorable, but easy to drink.

I had this on tap in Irvine. It’s an amber/red pour, a bit sticky sweet, almost caramelly.

A: The pour is a nice amber color with a thin ring of off-white head. S: There’s a decent caramel and toffee sweetness with some light citrus hop aroma too. Unfortunately, a weird olive oil sort of aroma that doesn’t belong in beer. T: Not really sweet or bitter, but a bit of toffee to provide some sort of malty flavor. Again, the fruity olive oil character and somewhat chalky, too. M: The body is medium, I suppose, but the carbonation is fairly low and there is the previously mentioned chalkiness. D: Back Street does have some pretty decent beers, but this is not one of them, unfortunately.

Clear golden with a tiny white head. Hoppy nose with grapefruits, pale malt and pine. Flavour had plenty of hops, pine, grapefruit and pale malt. Fairly dry and bitter. Not bad.

On draft at Vista location. Color was dark auburn with a light brown head. For the style, the flavor and aroma were good. Aroma of red malt, almost strong ale smelling. Caramel and fruit. Flavor of cocoa, fruit, red malt. A bit unrefined, but still good tasting.

If I were stuck on a desert island with kegs of this stuff and a beautiful woman, I’d kill her so she wouldn’t drink the beer...it’s that good.

On-tap at Vista location. Pours dark red/brown with a moderate sized, offwhite head. Smells dark fruity malty sweet. Tastes malty red fruit sweet with some hops, sweet. Medium body, crisp carbonation.

Sample at the Irvine brewpub. The beer is a clear dark reddish-amber color with a thin and creamy beige head that burns away slowly. Stringy lacing. Aroma of caramel and toasted malt. Medium, clean body with flavors of sweet caramel malt, nuts and mild hops. The finish is roasted nuts and malt with a lingering sweetness left over. Slightly above average overall.

Tap @ Vista location. Poured a slightly hazed red-copper color with no head. The aroma was of sweet nutty malt. Toasted malt flavor.
