Formerly known as Telemark IPA. Our GABF Gold Medal Winner has a very characteristic copper color from a blend of lightly kilned malts coupled with distinctive bitterness and flavor from Washington state‘s finest hops. This brew is a true Representation of a British Classic! We’ve changed the classification from an IPA to a Pale Ale because of the evolving hop profiles. When this recipe was originally created in 1996, it was an IPA, but now fits better in the Pale Ale category. The name has changed, but it is still the same great beer.

Poured a brilliantly clear darker amber or copper color with an eggshell white head on top. Not much lacing. Total Simcoe aroma. Pretty one dimensional beer. Seem like just a bunch of Simcoe hops and enough grain to ferment and make beer. Very thin and watery. Lifeless.

Tap. Copper coloring just a little less than their amber. Hops, harbs, oak and grapefruit for the aroma. Instantly bitter. Fruit, hops, grass flavor with a small alcoholic bite. Not enough hops in my opinion but a nice choice

Bottle shared at the First Annual Florida Ratebeer Gathering. These ratings were taken from one day of about 60 different tastings all were good and all have blended together but I know I thoroughly enjoyed every one of them and none were bad.

Relatively bright amber colour. Slightly piney, passionfruity with popcorn malt character. Slightly faded hops...oxidation gets a little metallic.

Tasted in Keystone. Obtained in a bomber from Backcountry brewery in Frisco. Appearance is lighter orange, clear with thin white head. Aroma is subtle, hops and some malt. Fairly well balanced. Flavour is somewhat watery, not as bold in the composite elements as I would have liked.

Pours a clear bright copper with a thick, frothy, well-lacing white head. Aroma boasts nice piney western hoppiness and a touch of caramel malt. Body starts with a hint of sweetness turning more dry and citrusy toward a crisp bittersweet finish. Well-balanced, enjoyable and drinkable, but could be more intense without being an imperial IPA.

I wasn’t able to hit the brewery when we went skiiing in Breck, so I was glad I was able to bring a bottle home with me. 22oz bottle served at 50.8° in my NB worthy glass. Best before May ’05, bought in March ’05. The beer pours reddish orange with a short lasting hazy white head. Nice piney and citrusy hops aroma with a touch of sweetness lurking in the background. The taste is piney and grapefruit hops with a sweet malt background. The overall bitterness is not very high. This is a nice IPA, with some great hops aromas and flavors. I’ll have to hit up the brewery next time I am in Colorado.

Orange gold color. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is grapefruity and floral hops. A medium bodied IPA. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and piney. A medium bitter IPA. More in the English style, smooth mellow flavors. Nicely balanced. Lively carbonation. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and a touch floral.

UPDATED: FEB 14, 2005 22oz bottle. Hazy golden orange color, big earthy fresh hoppy citrus nose but the taste is a floral hop to me. Lighter on the palate than most. Drew rocks again!

Tap at the pub: Orange body. Looks just like the wheat they had on draft. Citrusy (orange) aromas with touches of pine. Malts reminded me of cereal. Piney hops that were smooth, but never overwhelming. Clean finish with hoppy echoes.
