2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
12oz bottle. Scottish Lager. Filtered amber-brown body. Foamy beige head. I can’t quite place the aroma, some odd oily amber chocolate malt. Definitely off in some way, some of those garbage tones. Weird, amateur stuff, no brewing prowess displayed at all. Aroma keeps getting worse. Pretty bad, but an interesting concept.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
bottle @ John’s Grocery / Iowa City IA --- Clear dark amber brown, head that drops to a solid cover, streaks of lace. Taste is peaty malt with some clinging semi-sweet toffee that moves quickly through to a light bitter finish. Not a particularly inviting taste. Okay, not great at all.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at home. Really nice beer with well blended flavors of toffee sweetness and smoke. Very pretty in the glass: clear light brown and effervescent. Slight metallic taste likely from the peated malt. Wish it had a bit more body but otherwise very well done. Would drink again.

peted bock. scotched ale. cred. pepsican is the man! complex, inviting aroma of clean dry toasted, peaty dry earthy dough. rustic scotch ale. taste offers a bit of a metallic copper twang in addition to other notes noted just a tip ago. metallic note a bit more potent as it opens up. somewhat drinkable.

On tap at the brewery. Amber and clear with an off-white head and light lacing. Malty aroma with light spices, wood, roast and a touch of smoke. Similar flavor, smooth and mild, easy to drink. Pretty light body with a soft feel and a clean finish.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours red with a medium head and light lacing. Aroma is sweet, almost tangy, with lingering smoke. Flavor is big caramel malts at the start, giving way to a nice, dry bitter midsection and a big sinus-filling smoke. Finish is mostly smoke with a slight yeasty, then grassy end.

2.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
The best part is the aroma. There’s a nice smokiness, along with some of the hops. As for the mouthfeel (damn I feel pretentious saying that word, but the alternative is "way it feels in your mouth", which is somehow dumber), it sticks like cough syrup, where the sweetness of the malts just won’t let go. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
